If you want to effectively use a twin scroll you will need to swap to a non-Renesis 13B
To effectively use all of the Renesis pulse energy a single scroll is best, preferably a Tial housing or something similar like the Precision housing shown in that photo
This is dictated by the center siamese port on the Renesis ...

Thanks for sharing these details Brettus, looking forward to results with new housing.
While functionally pretty different, your mani is starting to shape up like a twin-scroll version of the rx8performance mani.
Are you able to guess at a performance comparison: Brettus 111 manifold with twin scroll turbine vs. RX8Perf manifold with std scroll turbine, assuming all other turbo specs are as identical as possible?

I always liked it but was not happy with the way the end port tubes and wastegate enter at a right angle etc. I'm hoping mine will spool better than that setup once the 0.82 housing is in place . As far as top end goes ... I have it in spades with the 1.01 housing . Hopefully I wont have to sacrifice too much of that for better spoolup.
I haven't heard of anyone maxing out the rx8 perf. kit out yet but the comparison will be interesting.

Hybrid Greddy Boosted
We don't know of any others that have done this before, so until Brettus has finished his testing we won't know for sure whether a single or twin scroll is most effective with a Renesis. Granted the single is easier to fabricate, so twin scroll gains would have to be notably better to make it worth the effort.

It's simple physics. You have the motor comment backwards. A twin scroll will not produce the best turbo on a Renesis for the reason stated. The issue with the latest manifold version still hasn't been recognized. That said, the 0.84 housing should improve things considerably.

There's no need to "Team out...", your comments are certainly appreciated when they contribute to the knowledge pool. It's one of the reasons so much assholefulness has been overlooked on this forum (this is not an insult...depending on your sexual persuasion).
Sounds like you've got a good idea you don't want to share ("you still don't get it"..."issue hasn't been recognized"). Please explain, for the greater knowledge of this forum.

Of course im rooting for Brett fully but I cannot imagine being able to accomplish what he is set out to do without some sort of voodoo magic beyond my understanding. The big question is not if he can do it, I have no doubt. It is can he do it while maintaining a greater efficiency over a proper manifold and turbo.

So yeah , the change to the manifold does make it more like a conventional manifold and the fact that I saw an improvement does mean the original design was not efficient.
Despite the fact that there may now be a small imbalance between backpressure at each rotor and the fact that backpressure will increase with the 0.82 , I have not given up on achieving what I set out to do .
BTW ... I haven't mentioned this before but ....................... the car is a freaking rocketship as is !

Not too sure if we're allowed to post ebay links and I don't wanna jack Brettus' thread but the description in the ebay ad states:
""Mazda RX-8 low mount turbo manifold , precision v-band .84 turbine housing and precision E compressor cover. This came off of a car that was in good working condition, all that is needed to complete this turbo kit is a precision 6266 chra which costs 700 new. this comes with the turbine housing and compressor cover so you will not need that. this kit is capable of 400whp+ with that turbo . manifold is jet hot coated as well.
- Condition.
all parts are in good working condition, no cracks on the manifold , turbine housing or compressor cover.""
Def seems like Brettus is onto something with the wastegate placement. Keep on keeping on Brett. Results are looking promising.

are those two boosted 8's??
#520
what setup is he running?
#522
brett are you not going to give us any details on that setup? do I have to pry it out of you!?!?! RAWR
#524
well I guess that's all I need to know. Thanks. I had a master power turbo on my old mirage. It was a BEAST. good to see you hanging with other boosted 8's. I'm always the odd ball in my area
