throwing gas on the other fire wasn’t enough? Maybe your user name refers to “persistent pyromaniac”? 🤔

You claimed there that you’re going to build it. So if we take you for your word it won’t die any time soon, but more likely there will be a never ending supply of noobs who saw something somewhere to keep it going.

My expectation is that we’ll finally prove out Bigfoot exists before this other mystery to end all mysteries is finally solved.

I want to see rotary development continue. Since Mazda has been coy about it for years, projects like this might be the only way we keep it moving. Dahm is doing it on the extreme end. I like the idea of doing some more practical development.

Can we source some funding and spread out the risk?

I'm good for a couple grand on the condition that you share the build details. Would that tip the scales any for you, Brettus?

haha, nope. I'd argue it would be a better return than the Mazda stock I own. At least I'd get some data out of it!

Heh. Well right now I'm concentrating on my turbo manifold etc but maybe one day I'll get back to this.

I would rather see the money go to something more useful like helping poor or disabled people in need, but you can throw it in a hole along with some gas and a match if you so wish …

Brettus said he's not chasing it now but...

Why not both? Hell, we could even pick some charities to give half the raised funds to.

I'm a fan of giving to people in need and I'm also a fan of R&D. In both cases, some of the money is going to end up being a loss but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not worth doing.

I'd love to see a smaller-packaged 3-rotor.

it’s less length than than a factory 20B, but don’t kid yourself. It’s an additional 130mm long in the short version and that presents several challenges.

there’s no loss in helping others in need, unless your heart is into it then the loss is your soul.

Welp, you've made it clear that this project is not only doomed to fail but putting money into it is also morally wrong.

I never said that; just addressing your words saying that some of it would be “lost” either way.

A man who gives with a sincere and caring heart to those in real need (not this stupid worldly project) builds for himself an incorruptible spiritual treasure regardless of the worldly outcome. The treasures and efforts of the world will all come to nought, without exception.

Ich said this for years: The best reason for an Engine like this would be: this might be the only possibility to drive a 3 Rotor rx8 legal in some countries. Because there is a chance this Engine could pass the Emission test.

I dont care about big horsepowernumbers, but the Sound!!!

For me, an R3 with an 3 Rotor renesis and maybe 300 flyweel horsepower would be my dream car.

Greetings from Germany and sorry for the Bad english!

Lets say even if we were to make a 3 rotor block with a modified rx8 center iron or a custom iron. With a custom E-shaft

For the intake, the ssv, vdi, vfad would all need to be repositioned and controlled. I never looked into the calculations that mazda used, but I imagine every valve needs to be reconsidered for the new 3 pulse timing and how they interact flow wise.

(granted if I was spending the money and dev time on my own 3 rotor I'd be turboing it anyways, so i'd end up with a simple custom tube manifold anyways.) A case could be made that the REW housings many years from now may not be available new.
