ha ha. i guess not. i just thought that a blown motor would have the same effect as the 3rd gen's. the busted seal would just go out the exhaust port. where as our exhaust is on the side so i cant see how the seal would go out that way.

Because of the size of the Greddy Turbo you are in boost at around 2500-3000 rpm all the way to about 7000-7500 rpm. I was at around 5500 RPM. Was I accelerating..yes. Was I at WOT/redline/gunning it...no. Just like when most people merge from one freeway to another, you accelerate into it. About like that.

Hmm, according to the fuel starvation thread, there are specific requirements for the stock pump to go between low and high power mode. I wonder olddragger is correct - and people are randomly hitting low power requirements as they go into boost, causing a temporary lean condition to occur while not leaving us with damaged fuel pumps.

youre welcome. And the pump is sensitive--the very milisecond the throttle is backed off(after parameters are reached to activate the high speed relay), the voltage drops and and you are back to low speed mode. so you could still be at say 7k but just let up on the throttle and not continue accelerating and the pump goes to low. Who's monitoring fuel pressure? Anything noticed? For those interested i am sending a pump to a member of the forum who is a specialist in this area and he is going to lab tests all the pump's capabilities. we will post when available(probably by FEB.

You'll want an oil restrictor, a bov, new hoses and clamps. Additionally, you may want to opt for the int-x for fuel management. Once you do these things, you should have a reliable setup. So factor in $300 - 2000 more to make it usable. Most of us end up spending ~$6,000 to get everything installed and tuned, or ~$60/hp.

If you're not using greddy's fuel management, you can't point fingers to greddy since there's no way the rest of the kit could blow the engine.
but according to Greddy's *plug n play* logic. The kit is plug and play.

It might not be Greddy's fault (kit including ecu), might be just the fuel pump back to low speed mode, lean and the motor blow up.

Oh forgot to ask, who have the Mazsports upgraded fuel pump with the Greddy kit ?

hehe. if greddy claims plug and play, you can install and play, though it might not work exactly right. If you're familiar with microsoft's "plays for sure", you'll know what I mean

I have the mazsport upgraded fuel pump btw.

*Greddy Turbo Kit for the Mazda RX-8. Comes with everything needed to install including pre-programmed piggyback fuel computer that makes an additional 60 horsepower* at the rear wheels. The turbo runs at a 5 lbs of boost.
The kit comes with everything needed to make this a true "bolt in". Includes air filter, Intercooler, exhaust manifold, turbo oiling hoses, bracketry, wiring harness, vaccum hoses, ducts, silicone couplers and hose clamps make this a very complete kit.*

Notice : *Very complete kit* LOL !!!!!!

Not bashing your kit mysql.

If Fuel pump was the cause of the problem you should be ok. But seriously the kit still suck(all the problems that it has)

I don't take any offense to the greddy bashing. They deserve a lot of it.

The kit really does make the power they claim, and it does do it out of the box. The problem is - how long can it continue to work with the crappy hoses? How long will the turbo last without a bov and oil restrictor? How long will your engine last if you use emanage blue?

HOWEVER, If you look at their wording, it's all true. It comes with everything you need to make 60+ hp. It really is bolt in, and it does come with the items they list
