Have you decided to go BNR or for a rebuild?

Turbo blanket, exhaust wrap and thermal tape

Do you have a estimated completion date?
I'm trying my hardest for the end of April.

What I find particularly interesting about your build is you got here almost exactly the same way I did.
Bought a used kit, working on repairing it, wondering what to do with your nitrous system now.
lol

I'm not going BNR, I am going to see what I can get done to the Greddy and if nothing really then I will likely just go with another turbo all together.

I am definitely getting a turbo blanket but I have read and heard from our local rotary expert that wrapping keeps too much heat close to the exhaust ports so I still have some research to do on the subject.

Good read.

I hear wot u r saying.

I'm curious however under what conditions that his concerns are directed.
Does he mean this could be a problem under daily driver conditions or at the track.
My car will not be tracked. So I'm thinking it won't be a problem.

I just want my day in the sun as the dyno queen lol

That would be the only time I'm going to be concerned about too much heat.

We were talking track conditions. On the street I don' think it would be a huge issue.

Has anyone discussed air filter size? I am staying away from cleanable filters and look to use a WIX OEM filter for a 6.0L GMC.

And you have it mounted the way Greddy recommends? Hmmm.

Brackets were made to mount it because they did not come with the used kit. I do not recall if it hangs exactly as Greddy intended.

Okay so now after reading the hell out of Garret's tech section I am worried about what my Mazmart oil pressure mod might create too much oil pressure for the turbo. I am awaiting a response from Greddy as to the recommended oil pressure for the T618Z so I can figure something out.

I am still liking the idea of a separate oiling system for the turbo.

You might get a faster response if you call turblown.

Also they can rebuild your turbo for $300

Meh, I'm not sold on those guys yet enough to be taking advise from them. Most rebuilds are around that price and majestic has always had a good rep so I think I will wait and see what they can do.

Most turbo oil lines have a retrictor pill in them, I would imagine that would be all you'd need to get the proper ammount of oil to it.
Let us know what the experts say. I'm in the process of building a turbo set up as well so I'm tracking your exploits.

thats true, I got a quote from boostlab out here in Tampa, and they want 300 for rebuild and balancing, plus they warrenty the turbo for 6 months after rebuild.

I think the subject has been touched on a little bit but I'm curious because im thinking of running a dual oil filter setup.

Yeah majestic said they charge $335.00. Now i don't have a final number and I am awaiting verification from the head tech but they are also telling me they can replace the center section with a part that has both water cooling and oil cooling. That would be awesome.

He made it sound like it's no big deal.

Does anyone know if the oil restrictor is built into the Greddy? According to stuff I have read most turbos do not require a restrictor because it is built into the turbo.
