Gotcha, I am just wondering if one of the shorter but thicker core units would be sufficient enough, that would be ideal because it would allow more flow to the radiator.

Does anyone have the specs of the Greddy Intercooler?

^ Thanks. I was searching last night and found the same bar and plate intercooler that comes in the Hymee kit for under $100.00. Bar and plate intercoolers are supposedly the best so my question is are the ones that cost three times as much really better?

I realize construction is a key factor but having the one from the Hymee in my hands I can say that it appears to be constructed really well.

I dont see any issues with the stock greddy ic, specifically when running a stock greddy turbo. Your issue revolves around fitment. If you can get the greddy ic to fit then I think you would be in a great position. Thats the road I would go down first IMHO

Yeah in seeing the size comparison now I think I can work something out with the Greddy and my oil cooler without an issue.

I can, I am thinking of moving it back and putting the intercooler in front of it.

That Should be fine. like you I had some mounting manipulations to do. I Have the MS intake stuffed behind my IC so I had to make custom brackets to move the IC towards the bumper.

Yeah I haven't decided what to do with the AEM yet, I will probably modify it to run accross the top of the crash bar like this.

Yeah that is what most people do, but I was able to fit it all with the normal tube.

Dondo has a custom setup like that BHR did for his SC install.

How much room is between the lower tray and the intercooler? I also have a custom aluminum undertray that I am going to create some ducting for.

I will check later today and feel below the intercooler to see how much room there is.

Front bumper mods

Check out the attached photo
I had a local race shop relocate the CAI
and remove the crash bar.
They also ducted the radiator from the nose to the inlet

I will check to see if I have a high res photo.
They might of gone bye bye when my last computer died.
The crash bar mounts were left in place and a smaller tube was welded to it.
The tube also acts as a mount for the tow hook.
I kept the templates that the fabricator used for the ducting
in case I had to duplicate it. The vented hood and Mazdaspeed front nose helped a bit. I would guess that these mods dropped the track water temps 15 degrees.

Cool, if you can find it let me know. The ducting looks very effective, similar to the other race cars I have seen.

Okay. So, I'm not sold on upgrading to the BNR or just replacing it for a ball bearing turbo all together. I just don't think I need that level of power to meet my goals with the car.

If I were to get the Greddy rebuilt would going with a different WG actuator be better than doing the mod to the WG Brettus did?

I dont think that the stock wastegate is bad. Most people do not do what bettus did. Normally people run a BC. I have not seen any reports of a failed greddy actuator.

My kit came with a modified external wastegate and I will be reverting back to the stock wastegate.

hope this helps ya out

Will you be running a EBC?

Congrats on making the push 9k! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

The problem with the actuator isn't that it fails. It's that the actuator isn't strong enough to hold itself closed in the upper rpm because of the high exhaust pressure. This results in lower boost pressure up top and when this happens, even a boost controller won't help since it can't control the position of the actuator arm.

^+1 I was just about to reply with that. The BNR upgrade adds watercooling as well so it is not just for power. The external wastegate is so you can hold boost in the higher RPMs.
