3 Rotor RX8 PR
#1227
I have heard that for the 20B swap you need to change out the stock 6 speed and change the rear end in the RX8 due to the power of the 20B. Does this need to be done or is the stock 8 strong enough to handle it.
Thanks
Thanks

You could stay with the tranny but only if you are going with a conservative setup and treat it like a baby... Ive broke 3 8 tranny's ( all 2nd gear)and my t56 is starting to make weird noises...

Define "Conservative". Stock 20Bs already push 300/300. Do you think the 8 tranny could hold 375/325ish?
#1231
Id say 400-450 would be OK, but and that is a big BUT.. If you like driving hard 2nd gear is going to break most probably with a NA 20B. My second tranny I broke 2 hours after installing it and the car was at 12 pounds of boost. I had just lower it thinking It would help to save the new tranny...

Check out this tranny.
http://www.xtremerotaries.com/main2/guru/gearbox.htm
Made as basically a drop in for RX-7s. Seems like it works OK for a DD as well. People on RX7club say it will hold 600ish comfortably.
Its pricey but nowhere near what other SMGs are.

consider to install a an automatic or shiftronis tranny is best for the street use.

that does look fun
i'm starting my own thread soon. it'll be titled: help me finish my project or something to that effect.
glad you guys are still on the forum tho!
as for tranny, i may just end up doing custom tranny case bracing with the FD tranny.
i just bought a floor lift which is to be coming any day now.

Today my friend Rey visit me at brings his new GTR to my warehouse.
This one is one of the first GTR's on the island. He give me a ride and the car is really fast and the best think is that that there is no tire spinning.
My friend Rey is also a Rotary fan he owns also a RX7 turbo II and a 1993 RX7 both with over 600 hp at the wheels.
