Pulling out your radio fuse may actually work, as that would reset both your headunit and the AudioLink unit. If you are unable to solve the problem and continue to experience difficulties, please let me know. Thanks!

Remove your HU fuse and don't forget to let you Audio link connected to you HU. I had the same problem first time I installed my Audio link because I did'nt remove my battery connector before.

Should I disconnect the Radio fuse and then connect the fuse and the plug the Ipod back in.??? Sorry for the long post

I am having the same exact problem, and it just happened today. This morning, I got in the car and it spit out a CD I had in there. After that, I was unable to go into CD mode or EX2 mode. Also, my keyless entry is no longer working. I am at work right now, but I am going to be trying to fix it tomorrow, looking to see if I blew any fuses. I'll let everyone know as well.

This is a bit troubling. So you can not change the mode or your blow a fuse and/or can't get back to EX1 mode? Has anyone changed the mode without a problem? Where is the HU fuse located?

I changed the mode in the past, but this time it didn't like it. That is a major problem . I still haven't found out how to fix it, I haven't had time to look into it, but my keyless entry seems to be reset, and working fine. I just can't get into the EX1 mode.

USB Drives that work?

Can anyone list what USB stick drive they have that is working correctly? I bought a sandisk Cruzer (it was one of the smallest) and I can't get it to work. However, when I put it into my laptop or PC it starts installing some cruzer browsing software, so that might be the problem.

If you all that have drives that are working could list yours, that would be great.

re: thumb drives

I answered my own question by googlin a little. You can just format the thumb drive (windows: my computer, right click on the drive, format) and it will erase all the bonus software on there and make the drive clean. It worked just fine after that.

One other thing, I have both USB and stereo mini port used (sat radio), for the usb to work, having your sat receiver powered down doesnt work, you have to unplug it from the unit which means opening the glove compartment instead of just hitting power on the sat receiver. That was boggling me for a while.

Works really well though, so the glove compartment thing isnt that big of a compromise.

I ran a usb extensioin cable through the middle console and out where the cupholders are , just slide the armrest back and plug in the thumbdrive (and open the glove box and disc the sat in )..

I know that some people have experienced some minor quirks with the AudioLink product, but have still been quite satisfied with the product. I'm sure I haven't even heard from some of you, so I have a request...

If you have experienced ANY problem, quirk, or bug with the AudioLink product, please send me a PM with the following information:
  • Your order number.
  • The year, make and model of your vehicle.
  • Your headunit's firmware version.
  • The type of iPod you are using (if applicable).
  • A description of the problem, including how often it happens and if you can reproduce it on command.

RPM and the manufacturer of the AudioLink are commited to our customers and we want to make sure that you are most satisfied. If you report a problem and it has already been fixed, we will provide you with instructions on how to get a replacement.

Additionally, we have some more good news for you...

Our latest shipment (arriving today) as well as all future shipments will have updated firmware that includes additional functionality! And unlike many of our competitors who would gladly charge you more money for this additional functionality, we will not. The new units will be exactly the same price!

What additional functionality?

The unit will have the ability to operate as it does now in addition to "playlist mode!" To change modes, you will use the DISC+/DISC- keys. When "EX1" is selected (default), the AudioLink unit will operate as it does now. When "EX2" through "EX9" are selected, you will be in playlist mode. Each "disc" represents a playlist, meaning "EX2" represents your first playlist, "EX3" represents your second playlist, etc. As such, your first 8 playlists will be supported. While in playlist mode, you will be able to change tracks, fast forward and rewind, as well as use the repeat and random buttons on your center console. While in playlist mode, the iPod GUI will not be functional. This functionality is similar to that which is offered by some of our competitors for over $200.

I know what some of you are thinking.... What if I already purchased the AudioLink and want the additional functionality?

In March, I will be receiving some firmware chips that will allow me to upgrade the firmware on any existing units. You'll just need to send your unit to me, I'll upgrade it, and then send it back. The upgrade will essentially be free, but I will need to charge $5.00 to cover shipping expenses back to you via USPS Priority Mail. Once this service is available, I will provide details about how to get it done. So stay tuned!

Just wanted to say I fixed this.

I removed every fuse in the door panel and quite a few fuses in the engine compartment, when I turned the car back on, it was working. I don't know exactly what fuse it was, but my guess is it was the headunit fuse in the engine bay. None of my fuses were blown. This also fixed my keyless entry problem.

Just as an aside, I want to mention this might not have been the fault of the AudioLink. I recently had my sirius unit and radar detector hardwired. Considering neither one of these things connects to the headunit, I automatically assumed it was the AudioLink, but again, I could be wrong.

Why didn't you just pull the positive lead off the battery? It would do the same thing without pulling out all your fuses. Just a thought

Thats what I ended up doing. I actually cleaned my whole battery area and whatnot. It has seemed to fix the problem, I can now switch between the different modes and be able to get back to my IPod. Hopefully it will stay like that...

I tell you one thing though, the new hardware sounds pretty good. Keep us posted when we can send our current one back and get the upgrade. Also, if you happen to know, about how long does it take to get it done?

I'll definitely make a post as soon as I'm able to do it. It only takes a few minutes to do the update, so if you were to ship it to me via Priority Mail, you should have it back in about a week.

Okay, I have my RX8 now, and I'm planning on getting one of these - especially now I see the firmware has been updated to support playlist selection from the disc controls. Very nice. If it could use CD-Text to display the current track name it would be perfect.

I'm curious about the list of iPod models in the drop down menu. I have a 3rd Gen iPod (with dock connector), and plan on getting a 5G iPod 60Gb (the current revision) when/if they announce a red version - if not, I'm getting a regular one.

I was under the impression that all the iPods post the 3G used the same dock connector, so how come the ability to choose the iPod model?

They do. We're just collecting the data for support purposes. Should a problem arise, it's helpful to know what car/iPod is involved. If you have, or are planning to get, more than one iPod, just choose the one you plan on using the most.

Ah, okay. I'll pick video when I get it, then

Is the Playlist selection detailed a while back in the unit I would get ordering in the near future? I see someone in the UK has fitted one already, so I'm assuming the UK radio will be no problem, and my car is a 2006 model so surely has new enough firmware (I will double check).

Ok, I'm sorry if I missed this in the thread, but I'm wondering what the definitive answer is about the LCD display. With this product, the iPod song information does NOT display thru the stereo, correct? It's just able to be controlled thru the steering wheel controls for song up and down? I just got my RX-8 yesterday, so I'm a n00b at all this. Thanks in advance for your help.

You are correct. The product does not support text capabilities.

I would like to suggest a headphone jack that is bent at a 90 degree angle. My sirius unit doesn't fit in the rear center console area with the plug sticking straight out of the back. If I could get a plug like that and a longer cable in addition to the new playlist functionality I would definitely pull out my head unit and send it back to you. As it stands right now, I don't know if I could stand being without my iPod while driving for any extended period of time.

Thanks for a great product.
