I hate you guys! Came out of work today and b00m...bwoken. I can't believe it. Odd thing is...once I got to taking out the ashtray it started working again. Something just isn't right. When I got in my car it said the ambient temp was 95 but crawled down to 85 once I got moving. I decided to take out the glove box and move it up there. At least at that point I have easier access to the box. Burned my hand in two places though. We shall see how it goes up there away from the engine.

I wonder if there's a thermal overload protection in the programming that needs to be adjusted.

I would be interested to know what revision of board everyone has that's still working without issues, but I don't want to ask anyone to pull theirs out to look lol

I feel the need to warn anyone that is going to use AutoToys.com. I ordered this adapter on 7/28 and 2 weeks later it was still listed under "processing."

The product was shown as in stock and no on backorder. I tried to contact any kind of admin on the site about taking so long but I still had no replay after sending 3 "tickets" in after 2 days. Finally 3 days later they replied and I canceled my order (which had still not shipped).

After all that I'd rather buy the Audiolink adapter even though it doesn't display text. This one looks like it might crap out after being subjected to extreme heat. I live in Tx so I'm sure it'd happen pretty quickly.

Yea, I was going down the same route and then they finally shipped it and it was here in 2 days. You may find them elseware. A quick search found...

I pulled my ashtray out and removed the axxess box. Even while having the device next to my shifter it stops functioning so it may not even be heat related, just faulty. The device randomly seems to fail.

I am currently trying to contact autotoys. Their site is down it appears.

I have requested RMA information but they told me the device is out of stock, so I guess I'll just go with a refund.

Earlier when I contacted Axxes directly they advised that I would have to go through the vendor for replacement options.

Just as an update...it was like 40 bagillion degrees in my car again today and my adapter cut out again even after I moved it. Guess I will be contacting Autotoys when I get home.

Update: After getting into my car 2 hours later it worked just fine. Had cracked the sunroof to let the heat out. Still no word from AutoToys.

Is anybody using this and NOT having problems? I've got one sitting at home waiting to be installed (ordered it before the price increase) but I haven't had any free time to do it until this weekend. Should I return it?

Rogman - Are you having any issues with yours? Wonder if it's a certain batch or a certain vendor.

Nope, no issues at all with mine. Use it every day. Also, hot as HELL here in the valley and no dropouts.

Weird.

I did get mine from the ebay store, but it's still the same Axxess box and install kit. Can't really imagine the Autotoys boxes are faulty.

I dunno. . .

That is very odd.

I can see a batch/iteration being faulty depending on variables in production method/process. Just speculating though.

I did finally start to hear back from AutoToys. They are inspecting what they have in stock now and testing them. Hopefully we can get some real answers soon.

OK.....so
I took a chance that this would work with my iphone.....since all the other use the same interface as my sirius and I wanted to keep it.
It works pretty much as advertised..........AND MORE....sort of.
Here's what I mean.
Anyone that has an iphone and has plugged it into any accessories.....the screen pops up the says "not approved for iphone do you want to change it to airplane mode".
If you plug this in while in the MAIN SCREEN of the iphone you still get the message just say no and switch to ipod mode and it works........with a sort of bonus for some people..........It does NOT lock out the ipod......the on screen controls the music, playlist, repeat, shuffle, etc..........BUT.......it can NOT be controlled by the radio controls and it does not display the info on the car display. Some people would rather control it with the ipod itself because you could see next song and not limited on the playlist or songs.
Not to worry, it will work as advertised..............all you have to do is unplug the iphone and plug it back in while it is in ipod mode NOT the main screen. You get the airplane message then it locks the screen but it starts displaying on the car display and you can control it from the radio controls. Limited to 9 playlist and I think 99 songs per playlist. <<5 prev playlist, 6>> next playlist but I can't get the FFWD through a song to work.
Sort of the best of both worlds.

I do get just a very slight noise,hum.....but definitely not enough to worry about.

Phone part............when the phone rings the music slowly lower to mute and it will ring thru the stereo. You can answer like normal or use the speaker phone , but on speaker the sounds do not come thru the stereo but the music is still muted.
I have not tried a bluetooth yet.

I took a couple pics.
1 is thru the slot where the tape would go in....I pulled to trim pc off to get a good shot and make sure the wire wasn't pinched. By the way....the "bracket " that hold s the connector in seemed to work pretty good for me....I didn't need a zip tie......did the ones that had problems with them have a rubber pad the helped hold down the terminal?
2nd pic I took the others advice and mounted it up at the glove box to ward off any heat problems.

Next will be a decent mount......cup holder is just to damn HOT.

Still having problems with mine, they are shipping me a new one but until then...

When you guys plug in your ipod, when the axxess screen pops up, what version does it show?

And when you're listening to a playlist, when you get past song 99, does it show the correct number? or does it go back to 1? I thought it was supposed to show 1 01 when it was 101 but mine does not.

Haven't checked the version on the iPod...never thought of it. As for your other question, song 100 is labeled 1. I could really do without the number really. In talking with AutoToys yesterday the last box they have in stock right now is a Rev E box. I have them calling Metra on Monday to see if there was a problem with Rev E that they know of. Hopefully that will bring some good news.
