It Works!! iPod adapter w/ real Text Display!!
OK, I see that it has been about 7 months since Rogman’s made his original post. I currently have a Mazda OEM iPod adapter set up in my 8 with the control unit fixed in the area where the NAV system would be and the iPod in the glove box. I have a couple of question concerning the Axxess system.
1) What is the general consensus of the quality of the Axxess unit?
2) Where is the best place to put to Axxess module so that:
a. It will not overheat (or is that still a problem).
b. Access for Axxess module so that I can update the firmware.
3) Where is the best place to buy for the lowest price?
4) Is anyone having any problems that should be addressed here?
Thanks,
Bill

I did have a problem about a month ago with my Axxess box not responding when I left the office. Car was cold and it was 20F outside. Went to leave the office and it wasn't there. Let the car warm up...restarted my car and it was fine. I really don't understand what the problem could be anymore.
One year isn't too long of a thread resurrection is it?
Anyone still have problems? I'm not going to use it for the iPod connection, but the aux in and xm input, so I don't care about playlists or anything. Has there been any updates in a year? New shipments? Improvements?

So the "fix" should be to buy another part. Ermmm...where is that thing...

That SHOULD take care of it. If not...you are going to need a non-touch ipod.

Some simply move the unit somewhere else such as the glove box.
I kept mine in the problematic heat location behind the HU, but I cut a few "ventilation slots" in the upper cover so heat isn't contained within.
I wanted to test my theory out... so far its been running without any problems.
I have the factory Mazda iPod integration system.. does anyone know how to get the HU to display text? I have tried everything and no dice. Also, has anyone tried any adapters to get it to charge the iPhone?

The OEM kit does not do text display as it uses a different interface port for the iPod on the headunit. As for the power adapter I am pretty sure I linked it above.
