Question Where to put game console...?

Okay i was planning on buying a gamecube or ps2 with the Intec 5" attach-on screen with built in speakers. Now where could you put it? You can't hide it under the chairs because the attach on screen wouldnt work. The PS2 seems to big and bulky to put anywhere, though the gamecube seems small enough to fit in that compartment in that center behind the first two cup holders? Would anyone have a gamecube be able to confirm this? Or have any other ideas where to put it to view and use?

Put the game console at home in the living room where it belongs, not in your car!

Not the sort of thing I'd try and make a permanent fixture in any car. It's true that portable gaming units lack processing power.

If you really need to do this, don't damage the car to achieve it ... remove the compartment lid that the nav dvd would sit in between the back seats (store it somewhere) and fit the gamecube with stick on velcro to the compartment's floor.

you trying to say that you're sooo addicted to video games that you can't go anywhere without them...........seek help.

If driving the 8 isn't fun enough in itself then maybe you shouldn't be driving it in the first place.

C'mon guys. I regulary drive my two cousins around in my RX8 and although I don't have the funds to put an XBOX in it, I think they would just totally dig it.

I'm just about as addicted to my RX8 as I am to Halo, but that doesn't mean I'd try playing campeign mode while driving down Beltway 8. Cut the guy some slack. I'd do the same thing if I could afford it.

Sooner or later, a video game console WILL be a distraction to the driver, whether intended or not. It's simply a BAD IDEA to add even more driver distractions! We already have CD changers, cup holders, sunglasses holders, center console compartments, cell phones, and navigation systems. Sure, all of these have their uses; but they're still driver distractions!

Start throwing in DVD players, game consoles, and so on, and you're really asking for trouble; no matter how good a driver you are or how adamant you are that "they're for the passengers!"

Suit yourself.

Personally, I think talking on the cell phone and trying to drive at the same time would be far more difficult to deal with then if someone in the back seat is playing Halo (especially if they have headphones on).

But these are all opinions. Why don't we leave this topic as a technical one and keep the soap boxes out of it?

On a technical level, the GameCube and the 5" screen should be narrow enough to place between the driver and passenger front seats. There is also a 12v auxillary plug under the center console there and plenty of space for an inverter.

This configuration would keep the screen, the console and the players behind the driver. Coupled with a headphone break-out box, this sould be very safe placement.

Now, all you have to deal with is the vendictive shouting in the rear seat! :P

Pop up TV from the center console between the front seats so that it is only visable from the back. Motorized of course! Build the game console into one of the rear door panels. Tie in the power converter ground wire into the parking brake switch so that it can only be played when the brake is off and the car is on. Wait I'm getting carried away here! Just remove the access plate into the trunk and mount the game console so that it can be access here. Your only other option is to rewire the steering wheel controls to turn them into your game controller! :D

thx mikeb. first place i wanted it was i have two whiny kids i'll be taking on a long trip to san diego and to keep them entertained i figure a game console could work and for other future trips. also while i wait and pick up people, which i usually tend to do nowadays with the 8, i suppose i could play a game or two to pass time...its not like i'll be playing and driving and the same time. i'll probably be parked in a parking lot. anyhow yes i did consider between the front seats on the middle panel, but while i drive and braking and turning im sure the thing would slide back and forth. i considered velcro but i dont want to strap it down and then later try take it out leaving a sticky residue.

I wouldn't make it too permanent with a new Playstaion & Xbox on the horizon.

I haven't heard of any dates earlier then 2005 for either of them. Do you know something I don't?

Some kind of shelving in the trunk that is a general size would be a prudent idea I would think, regardless.
