My 8 came with the spare tire, what a waste, but the bar it is mounted to is rather intense. It is using 2 large bolts on either strut tower. I am wondering if this bar doubles as a tire mount as well as being a strut tower support for handling. Anyone know anything about this thing? I wanted to have a custom box made for this area that would seal off the trunk from the cabin and thus all the bass would go to the cabin and not leak into the trunk causing rattling and such. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
