For those of you who have taken apart factory Nav...
I want to remove my factory Navi system but RETAIN the motorized lid. My hope is to fabricate a mount inside the stock area to install an aftermarket unit.
How much room do I have to work in there? I hope to install a a unit that's roughly 3.5" x 4.5" and 1" deep.
If I were to remove the stock screen, and flush mount an aftermarket GPS, would I be able to retain the units motors?
Thanks!
Evan

to retain the motorized lid you have to keep the whole board behind the screen. There is not a lot of room but I was able to fit in a replacement touch screen lcd that was abut 1" thick. You should be able to do it.
Remember to keep the board behind the factory screen in there, it controls the motor.
