Swap BOSE HU for Stock?

Swap BOSE HU for Stock?
I have noticed that with my audio system, the Bose head unit doesn't have enough power by itself to drive any speakers. There is the whole debate of tapping after and before the amp for this reason.
I am wondering, can I resolve this problem by just using a stock HU instead of the Bose one? Is swapping it a possibility? I have the Bose right now, but I don't have any of the Bose speakers installed any more... I'm just trying to find ways to clean up my system and sound.
Much obliged for any ideas.
Thanks!

I don't know really, because you can tap directly into the head unit with stock units as far as I can tell from the threads, and with Bose you have to tap after the amplifier in order to get enough power.
Just curious, I don't think I'm going to do it either way since my setup is fine (I use an advanced line driver) but I am still curious.
