Stock wires?
Stock wires?
I just bought my 04 last week, and today in the trunk I noticed a power wire, a ground, and a red/black/blue wire, along with some RCA's and a phone jack looking thing coming from a wire loom.
Is that stock, or is it safe to say someone had an amp back there before I bought the car? I find that odd because this car has the spare kit in the trunk. I also wonder if it will work considering they would have needed to use a LOC. Any thoughts?

I was also just looking in the trunk near the stock amp and noticed a green box. It is screwed onto the stock chassis and has an input area and output area where you can select RCA or WIRED. It also has to little R and L adjustable screws.
It's probably a Bass control for the Amp. Mine has one. The other end usually went to a dial mounted somewhere in the cabin but I'm sure they took that with them. Look for a small hole somewhere like the ashtray or coin tray.
yeah sounds like you got the hookup on an easy sub install! LoL -- is the green box hooked up to anything? it would probably be tapped into the rear speakers somewhere (unless you have a bose then it would be tapped into the amp) if the power, ground, and remote are already ran then most of your work is already done!
all you have to do is plug the amp into the wires that are back there and run some RCAs from the green box to the amp. put a sub of your choice on and rock out.
if you want to follow the phone jack wire (which is almost definitely a bass control **** wire (which wouldn't help you unless you knew what he had and you got the same thing and just plugged it in) it's probably ran along the side of the center console the other end is probably under the center console where you shifter is.. it's easy to remove just pull up on it - no screws or anything. and if you want to remove that whole piece all you need to do is unscrew your shifter.
a common place to put the control **** is in the ashtray - but he probably took out the ashtray part and put it in the hole where it was (thats what i did) so you can just put the ashtray back in and be stock again.
also he may have mounted it anywhere under the steering wheel. or if he was really crazy he mounted it next to the DSC button..
i know none of this really matters, but i'm bored.. and now your bored. so it evens out.

Thanks. I just noticed a piece of velcro near where my right knee would be.
I do have the bose and it is tapped into the amp. It looks like a professional job so I am happy. Now I just have to find a decent amp/sub to throw in there. I am considering a single L5 Kicker to save some space. I'm just looking for a little more bass.

How big are the Power and Ground wire? Be sure they're large enough to actually use. Also make sure they're actually connected to something. I doubt they left behind a fuse connector for the power line but you should look in the engine compartment to see if you can see the other end of the power wire somewhere.
Try to find out where the car came from etc. Dig really deep and you might find that the previous owner posts (or posted) here. I got lucky and pretty much knew my cars history from this forum.
I found the power wire running through the firewall on the passenger side and the loom appears to run to the battery. Gonna investigate later. It is definitely big enough to use, but not the size I used when I was younger.
