I currently have a double din clarion without a nav in it so I was thinking about mounting my TomTom into the arm rest right below the shifter. Heres an edited picture to get an idea where and what it would look like. Thanks.

No. The reason I say that is because then you would have to look down to see it. Not only that I feel like it would get broken by carelessness. I wouldn't. Cool idea, but doesn't seem practical

I think it would be pretty cool. Easy access to it and all the wiring for a hardwire is right there. I don't know how great an idea it is to have to look away from the road that far though.

What are those little circles supposed to be?

That sounds sweet. Where exactly are you thinking of mounting it? Any photochopped pics to illustrate? I'm looking for a good place to mount mine.

I've just mounted mine with the standard windshield mount at the lower left hand corner (left-hand drive car). I ran the power cable behind the dash to the center console under the ashtray. I just wired in a second 12v outlet off of the 12v outlet next to the ashtray behind the scenes (pick up an outlet at radioshack) and tucked it all away neat and clean.

Hardwiring a radar detector and hacking a huge hole in your center console or rigging an actuator to some homemade bracket are night and day different.

I wish you the best though. Good luck!
