This just happened recently. The change made was i added an amp and sub to the stock NON-Bose radio.

When I turn the car off...the radio does not turn off with the car...I get completely out...shut the door....you can put a cd in and listen to music...I even set the alarm and turned off...open and closed BOTH doors...start and turn off the car. Everything...

I pulled the ACC plug to see if I could get it to turn off...and it would when I left the plug out...put it back in...the radio turns right back on. WTF is this? Its kinda funny...and annoying.

 

Sounds like you're feeding power back to the accessory relay. I can do something similar by leaving a power inverter plugged in and on, the radio and accessory outlets will stay on.

 

Yeah - how exactly do you have your system hooked up - whats probably happened is that your sub is using the rear cig lighter as a remote line (which is supposed to turn your amp off when you turn the car off) and you have a line ran from the battery for power -

the main line from the battery is touching the remote line at your amp connections - make sure you have 2 seperate connections on it - one for power, ground, and remote - none should be touching! or spliced together.. if your power wire is frayed and touching your remote, it could very easily be touching your ground and cause SERIOUS problems.

 

i'm not sure he is talking about the amp. he said he can still play a CD.

 

yeah he can play a cd because the cd player is getting power when it shouldn't be - the cd player works just like the amp - it has a constant power, and it *switched* on an off with the ACC circuit (which turns on with the car).

somehow the acc circuit is getting power from somewhere it shouldn't be MOST LIKELY on the connections of his amp.

his power wire is either frayed and touching the remote line (which is the acc circuit)

or he has the power and remote connection connected on purpose (because he doesn't know what he's doing)

either way it needs to be fixed or he'll be living in dead battery city before too long.

 

Thanks guys...Yes I do have it hooked up to the rear power outlet. I checked and there was one little fray that was touching my remote side...ridiculous...was feeding my whole system!!! Thanks again for the help!

Make absolutely positive that it can't fray again and touch your ground or you will have some REAL problems!

 

haha, i never knew a short at the amp could keep the whole stereo on.

 

Not sure it would on everything, but on the RX-8 it will keep the relay closed so everything powered off of that relay will stay on.
