Question reprogram alarm remote

I tried searching on the forum ,but no luck with my question. So I am going to post it , I am sure someone knows the answer. Well anyways , I totalled my last Rx-8 and still have the alarm remote. I heard that you can program them to use with my new rx-8. Anyone know how to reprogram the alarm remote ? I heard it was pretty easy.
Thanks in advance

Simple

Get in the car and be sure all the doors and the trunk are shut

Open the drivers side door.

Insert the key into the ignition

Repeat this three times...turn the key to the "on" then "off"

Do not remove the key from the ignition.

Push the drivers side door switch three times.

Listen for the door locks to cycle.

Push any button on the transmitter twice.

Repeat for any other transmitters.

Done

I'll be here all week

Remember to tip your waitress.

the little button that turns the interier lights off.

it is about 2 inches below the door striker.

Cool KelGuy....

Seems to me you're still not doing it right-

Door switch is rubber one on the 'B' pillar.

Key in,
Ignition On, 3 times,
.....stop on third time (so it's still 'on')
Push door switch, 3 times,
- Car will lock, then unlock-
Push 'Lock' on first remote, 2 times,
~ ~ ~ second ~ , 2 times,
~ ~ ~ third (new) , 2 times,

all three are now accepted by the system.

Sounds like you are turning the ignition 'off' before you poke the door switch.....

well guys i tried it myself again and no such luck
so i went to a local mazda dealer(not the one i bought the car from) and asked if there was any recalls, scheduled it .then asked if i can get help with my alarm.he verifed with someone else "rx8 3 up/down" so he came to my car to do it.
with no luck,he said could be they gave me the wrong remotes they look like mazda 6 remotes.
but i think they are all the same my brother's 6 has same remote.
and i know my alarm works because i closed all doors and left the window down and opened the door and alarm went off.

sorry to bring this back up but wayne mazda
told me that maxon mazda gave me remotes for a 6.
called my brother cause he has a 04 mazda 6
and the # are the same.
i then called a friend that has a 8 also and
her remotes have different #.
so the dealer is reordering controllers for me and will be in a few days.
i want to thank everyone that tried to help me in the thread.

Thread resurrection here. Anyone had any luck trying this sequence? I have tried it probably 50 times, all different ways, all with no luck. Both my remotes just stopped working. Any thoughts here? Both the remotes don't work. I tried with leaving it on "on" after the sequence. I tried it with turning it to "off" after the sequence. I got the locks to cycle, but the remotes never program. Can someone help me?
