Replacing to After Market Recievers

I need help, I noticed that Rx-8 comes with Boss System that is attached to the one huge center Console(one big plastic piece.) What if i want to upgrade my stereo and had to change the Reciever, How in the world can we install it on to that console?
Is there a Kit out there that is specifically designed so that after market Recievers can be installed? or does it have to be done with custom fiber glass?.

Until a kit comes out it will have to be custom made. Maybe I should make some molds of these too!

There is no such thing (yet). Doubtful if there will ever be.

There will be a kit. Give it time. The aftermarket would never just sit back and not make a kit for a popular car. It doesn't even matter how much work it would take or how much they would have to sell it for. They'll make one.

I bought your carpet today. Unfortunately I don't have time to cover it today. I'm still shooting for tomorrow. We need to get your car done this weekend as discussed. Many of the pieces at the shop are going to start moving to the new location within the week. As for the mold, we'll have to wait until after the holidays. I can't seem to get a simple box done in less than a month right now.

rotarygod...i have been working on a mold for the front but that so far seems to be the easiest part...it's losing the functionality of the digital console for the stereo that i think is going to be unavoidable...and all the other controls for this worthless Bose system...i'm not sure if replacement will effect all the display or just the radio part...i should have tested that while I had everything off....

So far I had made the original out of clay just to test out some different designs...(my wife is a school teacher so I get to play with her play-doh and plaster crap..lol) it turns out i think a carbon fiber mold will probably look best ..only cause I forgot where I used to order my plastic mold compound stuff from...

Now... i hope to eventually have pictures but my problem is I don't have time since I don't own Car Tunes / Sound Effects anymore...i have a geeky computer job and a 4 1/2 month old daughter...

I am finishing out my workshop hopefully over the next couple weekends, partly cause the wife is not letting me do molds and box designing in the garage anymore..."it's to park the cars in, not for your workshop"...

so bare with me and I should have something here in a bit..i just didn't want to start up a thread and leave everyone hanging while my lazy...tired a$$ was building a workshop.....

You will definitely lose the display part. You can buy the adapter that allows you to use the factory steering wheel controls with your aftermarket radio though.
