Thumbs up Remote Starter

had a remote starter installed in my 8 this weekend...and just in time for me to
appreciate its worth...
unfortunately i dont have a garage...and today it hit 18degrees....normally
i would drive the Tribeca in this weather...the heater seems to be a tad more efficient than the 8...
but today it was a different story...
w00t for remote starters....
w00t for my installer...Chuck aka lurch 519

PS..it can be done on a 6MT...

second key is needed (chip has to be removed)
and you will get an extra key fob which will work your alarm and the remote
start...
i still am using my flip key...but using the fob for everything else...
this morning it was 16 degrees...came in real handy...

the heater in the 8 is pretty weak...IMO..so this is an asset...

what happend to your other key?

That's cool. I've been thinking about a remote start system for my RX8.

What brand is the remote starter? Any idea if it works with Advanced Key systems on an RX8? Does it have safety features to stop the car from being started while in gear?

I have the Avital 4200

what i like about it is this:
when the car is running without the key in it...if you touch the brake pedal or attempt to move the shifter, the car will shut down...
thats a nice safety feature...
you have to put the key in and turn it to the "on" position before you can
actually drive it

not sure about the advanced key systems (what is that)
if the car is in gear, it wont start...

there is a neutral safety switch built into the 8's transmission. as long as the remote start system is hooked to this switch properly, there is no worries about the car starting in gear. also, the advanced key system shouldnt be an issue
