The only other switch I remember being there is a small wheel used for dash illumination and dimming. Picture? Maybe something someone else added before you bought the car?

If your headlights are off, then it will seem like it does nothing.

If they are on, though and you flip it down, you will switch the gauge illumination from white to red and be able to adjust brightness.

Are you the first owner of the car? If not, my guess is that somebody put that switch in there for something related to their audio system, or NOS

Weird, your ejector seat must be broken. Have you tried taking it to a dealership?

I'm on the same boat, red switch. It was obviously added, don't do **** though.
Flipped-up side goes to a 15v fuse in the internal fuse box. Flipped down is a red wire that goes through the firewall into the engine bay, only to be cut leading to nowhere.

I shall never know...
