radar detector

so i finally broke the bank and decided to get myself a radar detector. i decided i was going to get an escort, but i was torn between the solo s2 (wireless) and the 8500 x50 (wired, but with a pop-sensor). Because of the pop-sensor in the 8500 x50, i decided to go with that.

but now im thinking, should i have gone with the V1? thanks in advance for your opinions.

I've got the wireless Escort as well... I love it... Bought rechargable 'AA' batteries too.. a must since it goes through 'AA' batteries about every 2 weeks.

The solo is the way to go if you are going to move detector between cars. If it is only for your 8 get the V1. The arrows will save your A$$. :D

The V1 chirps way too much for my taste -- I've had my 8500 X50 since they surfaced in May.

Perfect for my style of driving.

I like my V1. I also bought the concealed display which works great. Here's how I hard wired it. I mounted the direct power adapter on top of the left foot rest and wired directly into the fuse box (cigarette lighter fuse). I then ran the "phone cord" up thru the door rubber to the dash and behind the winshield air bag. The wire then goes under the headliner(along windshield) over to rear view mirror. The detector is just above rear view mirror. It can barely be seen from outside. The conceald display is mounted on the dash just behind the windshield, far left. Just under the NJ inspection sticker. You can't see this from outside either. The whole thing took 5 - 10 minutes and is very stealth.

i can mount it in your Radio blank for you..

The V1 has a mute.. so you can mute the chearps and still hear the new alarms as they come in. !! it never bothers me. ....

I have the 8500 x50 and it is completely silent most of the time. I think the lack of falsing AND the ability to track multiple emitters balances for the lack of the arrows in the V1. AND it's cheaper and scored better than the V1 in the latest tests so I'm happy.

If you get any of the detectors that have been listed above you'll probably be very happy. They're all good performers from what I've read.
