Question - Head unit aux input
I've read that the OEm head unit doen't have an AUX input. Doesn't it have to with the additional cassett tape/mini disk option? Is it just a case of that's propritary and we can't use it?
Sorry for my ignorance, as I have yet to take my head unit out. Really can't tell without one of the extra units though ...

Kev,
OK Thanks. I had a Prowler previously that had a 1.5 DIN head unit. The size made me hesitate to replace it. It also didn't have an AUX. But I did find a wiring harness that transformed the CD Changer plug (stock unit skipped way too much to be used) into RCA plugs ignoring the other inputs but making the head unit think there was a CD changer there to allow for "Source" changes. I had a Neo Jukebox with an 80 Gig drive that sounded simply awsome though that setup. The FM modulation that came with the unit was horrible by comparision. I found the plug on my own on the web. Didn't know if perhapse something existed for ours as well.

In case you're successful in finding such a module for the RX-8, please post. I also have a Neo and I want to install it in the RX-8. I'm thinking about getting the head unit modified and an AUX input opened (which I once got done with a Ford head unit - worked great).
Another option (in case you can't find such a harness) is in this thread.

Look through the threads in the sub-forum, there have been alot of people trying alot of things. So far, the only solution to be found was either an FM Modulator, or hacking into the tape drive, or using a tape adapter in the tape drive.
That doesn't mean that another solution isn't out there, it's just that noone has found it yet.
