Question about installing LED lights in Sub box
Question about installing LED lights in Sub box
im building my own subwoofer box and part of it will be plexiglass because i want to install these blue led light strips i have. Is it possible to tap into the speaker wire going to the subs from the amp to power the light strips. They are very low level lighting but i dont know how else i can wire it while keeping the wires in the box?
Any ideas?

nope, you're going to have to run a separate line just for the power for the lights. You're going to have to put a speaker wire terminal on there for the speaker anyways, if it were me, I'd just drill a small hole and run a thin wire for power and ground then epoxy the hole back up. You might also just put a second terminal so you can disconnect the power and ground wires if you ever wanted to remove it.
Nope. That power wire is +12V constant. Your LEDs would never turn off. You need a fused +12V ignition source. Depending on power draw, you could connect them to the remote turn-on lead. But I wouldn't advise that for anything over about 250mA.
