Power Up Dvd Player

Can I power up dvd player using the power cable for the external amp ( i plan to put the dvd player in the back of the car ) or better of using the power wire for the stock bose amp? any input will be appreciated. thanks.

It needs to be a switched power source. An external amp is connected directly to the battery, thats why it has a remote turn on wire. So it knows when to turn on. If you connected it directly to the power for the amp, it would be on constantly and drain the battery in a very short time.

As for the bose amp, I am not sure if it is switched or if it used a remote turn on. I don't have the bose, or a wiring diagram for that matter.

Your best bet would be to use the power from the rear cig lighter outlet. It should carry more than enough power/amperage for a DVD player, and it is already fused and swithed to be on only when the car is. This is what I would use.

Thanks for the reply, yes I could use the rear cigar outlet, but if I still want to use the ex-amp cable, is there another way?

No, but you could possibly use the remote turn on wire for the amp. This, of course, is dependant on what that is hooked up to. If it is connected to some sort of ACC source, like a cig lighter, this would at least help becuase you wouldn't need to run another wire. Just cut it and splice in another wire for the DVD. The external amp just needs to see 12 volts, it doesn't need any real amperage to turn on, thats what the power wire is for. Using the remote turn on to power the DVD should have no ill effects with regards to the amplifiers operation.

Corksport. I don't have a link, but they sell one. Its like 500 dollars, but the only option out there unless you feel like custom fabricating one.
