Is it possible to use Stock Sirius on Aftermarket HU ?

My car came with Sirius. I havent renew it after the 1 yr trial expired.

then about a year later, the thing is totally dead (stay on acquiring data) so I kinda give up.

Now I have a new HU installed. so I am thinking, can I just buy like a wire or something so I can re-use the Sirius thing again?

Has anybody done that b4 ?

I never looked at the Sirius thing in the trunk. maybe I need to buy a wire to make it work? I dunno :-(

It's neither worth the time nor the effort. Buy the correct Sirius kit for your HU.

Pretty short sighted given that soon you can get all the XM stations as well as Sirius ones. Not to mention that I think its pretty obvious that hardware for a factory radio is almost never going to work with aftermarket units.

if you had the unit all you really need is the antenna - if you have that ran already then any sirius ready unit will work - most head units I know of always ship sirius ready - so if you wanna go aftermarket you are gravy - if you want the same then just make sure the stock head unit is the sirius one and hook the ant to it - good to go.

You do realize that aftermarket radios have proprietary connectors for accessories like satellite, right?

Are you out of your mind kid?

No way in hell. Admit it. You knew that before you even made this topic...

Actually the stock-installed antenna is probably the only thing you could use.. Just get an aftermarket sirius tuner that matches your aftermarket headunit.

Not a chance. You just purchased a Pioneer F-series, no? Like all Pioneers, satellite radio will use the Pioneer IP-Bus. Not even another aftermarket satellite tuner would work with it.... Let alone a Mazda OEM tuner.
