PIE probably makes the soundgate model ...PIE makes many many products and then they are rebadged or retrofitted in a different costmetic housing and sold for much more

TrueMagellan,
Can you get the PIE and sell it for less than that link I posted?
www.Mazdaparts.com is an authorized PIE dealer...PIE's catologue is sooo huge all their products aren't in mazdaparts website yet...but they do get added usually when someone requests it

Mazdaparts is happy to beat logjam's pricing :D

I can think of a huge difference.

If the PIE is bi-directional then it isn't powered. It is simply another transformer-based design.

The Soundgate is active and thus should be better. (Transformer can create poor low-frequency performance.)

If you want top-notch transformer-based performance look at the Rane Audio Balanced Buddy (BB series) isolation transformers used in professional audio. It is the only fully speced transformer model I have ever seen.

For active, the Soundgate looks like a good product, but the forthcoming JL Audio Cleansweep appears to be the ultimate.

Good luck,

I bought a PIE adapter and need to install it. Does anyone know the best location to do this? Would it be better by the HU or the bose amp. Installing it in the truck would be much easier so I am leaning toward this route.

rob,

It would probably be better to install it at the rear of the vehicle from a noise perspective.

The pie adapter plugs into the back of the hu. If you run wire into the trunk to the unit you will only add noise to the input.
