Pics of the rx8 install as promised...
Looking good. I especially like the install you did on the amp. Very clean. How's it sound with 6.5", are they big enough to hit the low, lows? Also how many watts per speaker are you running?
Hey 16psibrick...if you get some time, can you post some plans or a little more detail in how you did the speaker enclosure...i have been trying to figure out where i was going to put my subs...and i love your design...
well, here is a simple version...
i took the stock pieces, spearated the two pieces that make up this covering piece. and then cut back piece that contains the lock and pocket out a bit so it only contained the top and bottom, and not he pocket in the middle.
then i heavily fiberglassed the piece with about 5 layers of fiberglass matt, and then used 3 additional layers of dampening.
then i carefully measured a space of an enlcosure that can fit int he cavity between the two rear seats and then fiberglassed this enclosure to the back of afreomentioned stock front piece...
and then its s imple matter of putting hte subs in...quite a bit of work to get things right but its not too bad...
personally, it hink with a bit more work< i can figure out an enclosure for a simple kicker s8l7 and still allow you to loose almost no trunk space...but involves fully modifying the front face of hte enclosure

This setup kicks asssssssss............
My only thing is I already have 2 Phoenix Gold 12s from my older car which I KNOW won't fit but looking at this setup makes me jealous to my core.
What is the rule of thumb with the setup you have and the trunk, same size speakers, which develops more thump?
How good are those 6.5" I mean I don't need competition but I love my bass.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you have read the posts you would know that are 2-6.5" speakers. The size have been stated several times.
It is a nice setup, been thinking of trying this in my 09, I am just reluctant in cuting anything in my car lol.

WOW!!! Really nice looking 16psibrick! This is what I've been wanting for a long time, but didn't know it . . . wish I had found this post when it was new.
Why did you enclose the subwoofers instead of just venting to the trunk? Wouldn't that make the install a lot easier? Also that should improve the really low bass response, or have I forgotten all of my acoustics? What user controls did you run up front (if any)? Are the speakers wired in parallel or do you have separate left and right feeds for each one? (I only see one pair of 16 awg.wires in the pictures) Did you need to modify the console attachment in any way or was it solid enough with all of the fiberglass and dampening?
