I have the autoenginuity.com setup running on my carputer with a lilliput 7" touchscreen and it looks incredible. I will post some pics from my actual screen but I have attached some screen shots from their website and it looks exactly like these pictures...

My GPS (hand held 'cause I couldn't justify spending an extra $2K for nav stuck in one of 3 cars) reads 2 mph slower than the dash as well. Maybe it's intentionally optomistic to help keep us out of trouble.

Im working on a digital ODBII-CanScan gauge set using openGL for the display, and hopefully running on both linux and windows. I haven't gotten much done, just letting everyone know that someone else is working on this too.
My progress has been limited by the fact that its a pain to go out to the car, log some data, and come back in to develop.....so im working on an emulator that spits out random data so I can just develop based on that.
If anyone already has something like this (an emulator), that would be great. Come to think of it, if any one has any source code using the CanScan, that would also be pretty cool.....since the API is pretty light on information.

Good news...
Just got a message from Dan Harrison and the new CANScan units with the programming changes by Maurice to make the stock O2 sensor accurate and increased datalogging capability are built and ready to ship.
There is also a Pocket PC version comming out soon. I can't wait for that - will make in car guages as easy as finding a place to mount my PDA!!
... so with any luck i should be able to get a rrwhp (real rear wheel horespower) curve by next week to check the math for Rosco and to use for bragging rights

Michelle at CZ was working today on pulling our orders to send to Dan. I imagine they'll ship Monday or Tuesday.
The dyno program's been on hold for a bit due to craziness at work and today my mother had to go to the hospital, so things are totally up in the air right now. The way things are looking, it will be 2-3 weeks after I get the CS before I have any real progress to report.

hmm... seems I now have something to calculate hp, torque, 0-60ft times, 1/8th mile time/speed, 1/4mile time/speed, 0-60mph times, and 0-100 mph times when my unit arrives this week :D :D
...i guess Rosco you may have to work on another program in the future :p

it shows me what ever i want to put into one display via a graph or numbers.
I can grp waht i want and display the info on the plam screen or i can plug in my power point presentation adapter and put that on my lcd.. but its better on the palm that is now mounted next to the glove box where i can see it and touch it.. Not only can i do all that but i can use the cell phone in my Palm Tungesten w and surf the web. Send SMS messages, and run all the palm software. .. Now if my stupid Tungesten w would just play mp3s i would be all set.

So i take it that the canscan tool by harrison wont work with autoengiunity soft than huh?
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out where everything stands in terms of better graphics/software available for harrison r&d tool.. Can somebody verse me on this subject quickly?

I called Harrison R&D yesterday and they say that everything is all boxed and ready to go. It sounds like they are just as frustrated as us because they are just waiting for Maurice to say it is OK to ship them.
Edit: I just got an e-mail saying that it has shipped and I should have it in 2-3 days!

hmm... I think this dyno sheet will stir up some conversations - and for the good finally. It looks like my calcs work, I just have to do some more tested on finding the optimal logging rate because I found out the .1sec interval is a bit to small for accurate readings ( I believe this is why it looks like my car took a dump around 8000 rpms).

I have been reading this thread with interest, but I am bit puzzled.
I can see, from Harrison R&D for $140(+ Shipping), you get the CanScan protocol converter, OBD-II cable, rs-232 cable, and the software CD, with their basic software, including a SDK.
Also, from Canzoomer for US$ 185 (+ Shipping) , you get the Original Harrison package (?) + some other software, developed with CZ.
Is the software with the extra $45. Does the CZ software provide more meaningful information (MPG, AFR, Torque, HP, etc.)
Can someone post some screenshots of the original and the canzoomers product, to help me decide?

Needless to say that this wont be availble for every vehicle as you cant get that data on all.. But basically it's for racing The magic $$ number they are aiming for is around $1000US.

I'm getting this Harrison CanScan today and see if I can program a cool interface in Flash ActionScript. This will take time hacking around the data it streams to the laptop.
A dyno simulation would also be cool. As long as formulas are reliable, simulations and calculations in ActionScript will work.

Its not really a matter if the unit can log at .1sec intervals, it seems to me theres a bit of problem with the computer spitting out information that fast and getting an absolute correct timestamp along with the information. Since the problem only seems to show up above 5000 rpm, the 6 might have not as much trouble - i'm gonna be testing our 6 eventually..
most other systems only log at 1 sec intervals, this may actually be why
