Dose this hold just the screen, or can I put an aftermarket Nav/HU in there?

Screen only dude. It's not a 1DIN mount.

if you get a screen + nav CPU unit setup (check earlier in this thread) then yeah... put the screen in the dash and the CPU in the stock nav location. Otherwise... no HU or flip-out screen stuff with work with this.

Many of the HUs now a days have a separate screen which you could mount in this and then place the control box out of the way (glove compartment, under seat, if it allows in trunk, etc.).

The units I am referring to usually have touchscreen and/or buttons on the side of the actual screen.

So you know I've already sold some of these just last night.

Jason, are you going to restock this and keep it available once this initial order will be sold? Meaning, do you intend to keep this in stock?

Oh yah if its a manual pull and push, gotta make sure its a 7" with a good frame around the screen, otherwise the frame might give way cracking and/or damaging the screen?

To give an update on stock for this unit as the last 24 hours have been a whirlwind.

6 units have sold already.

2 of the original 4 are gone that means only 2 are left right now!!!! Nrider will receive his very soon and will be posting pics for you guys once his LCD is in

The other 4 units sold have their own shipment due to the volume and do not affect my current stock.

More units are on order to expand the inventory although ETA is unknown besides that it will be two weeks minimum. Those who order the two currently in stock will be shipped out the next business day (maybe even same if you get the order in early enough ).

nycgps. What are you looking for? A touch screen for a CarPC or for an aftermarket nav system? If you are refering to an aftermarket nav system, several were listed early in this thread (I posted them). Here... https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...2&postcount=54

If you're looking for a touchscreen for a CarPC... try mp3car.com (or look for Xenarc or Liliput on Google).

I would carry a nice LCD touchscreen but there are so many models and people have varying preferences on Resolution, inputs (VGA and/or Svideo), to even touchscreen interface (serial vs. usb).

I was mistaken on the site, actually many of the guys here have gone to www.CarMediaConcepts.com to put together car pc screens and such. We sell a carpc as well but it is being redesigned atm and so we recommend them. I know lots of carpcs whose touch and non touch screens came from there. And even non touch that were just used for dvds and video game systems.

I can't imagine it would cost 3k...u could even by a car pc from us for under 1K add gps and screen for 300 and worst case scenario is 1600 although it could be done for under a grand using a prebuild handheld nav unit or some other configuration.

There are so many options to choose from...for instance I use a modded xbox (more effort and time than it is worth TRUST me ).

WHERE!!!!!!!!??????????

I was ebaying and trying to find some sweet deals

I found some but all of them were double DIN NAV like the Pioneer D1/D2/N2 . sigh.

Now Im looking at alpine. The screen That JApan8 mention can be had for 482 brand new on ebay. Hmmmmmmm

The alpine navigation seems ok. but still trying to find something good, any recommendation ?

aye if someone can point out some of the screens that can fit this thing would be great! ( and not overly expensive). Im interested but afraid that it will cost another 2k ontop of the 500 (talking CAD here) to get this thing running

Honestly in the general picture of things, I'm going to do my carPC using a toshiba satellite laptop i have (not permanently connected), make the cd tray to where its accessable under the pax or driver seat, and give it a touch screen attached. i figure i just gotta buy a pcmcia gps, the touchscreen, and the mount for it, and everything is good.

coolest part is i've got a wifi connection that reaches out to my car so i'll be able to update/download/ whatever without detaching it.

I know , but I was trying to mount the screen in the front, and leave the GPS thing in the trunk.

Mostly because I just dont want to see computerss in my car, cuz I already have 4 in my house, my work place, and a laptop that I almost always gotta carry it around all day. Im getting sick of seeing computers

I believe that unit fills an entire 2dins...

instead there are units just like that with a screen you can mount with the dash piece I sell and a seperate control unit you can mount wherever you like.
