New dash kit for aftermarket stereo

Hello all,

I've gone through the posts and havent been able to find an answer to this one. I want to completely replace the stereo with one that will support more features... satellite radio, built-in support for the iPod, etc... I don't want to have to hack. I know I'll lose the finger controls, but I don't use them too much anyway. (it'll be unfortunate, but I really want the other 'toys')

I heard that Scosche put out a dash kit that reconfigured the dash to accept standard stereos, but I haven't been able to find any good informaton on this. I was hoping you could educate me on the subject a bit. If there is an alternative to such a drastic step I'm open, but I don't want to deal with Icelink's reliability issues and I want to control the iPod (or Sat radio) through the console.

Suggestions?

No kit for this vehicle and chances are it will not be manufactured due to the high labour costs of relocating the factory head unit. The only option is the drastic surgery necessary to do what you need. There are ample threads that cover this subject.

That falls directly into the "drastic surgery necessary" category. :p

but yeah, unfortunately there is not a kit available and as Forbidden said, probably will not be one for a long long time...

Thanks for the replies guys (or gals). Unfortunately I'm not talented enough for something that complicated. I think I'll just have to go with an RF transmitter for the iPod or Satellite. It's better that surgery.

Thanks much,

Jesse,

That thread is my car going under the knife. The reason why I went this pathway because I knew that I wanted all of these, didn't have navigation in my car, so this unit has that, plays dvds, cds, and most of all, it's an mp3 player which was very important to me. It also has the option to add a backup camera, and a bunch of other things.

I really think that it is worth it. It makes your car more unique compared to others cars. I think that it is work it, as I truly enjoy it. After this project is over, I am working on finishing the rest of the system, I'm thinking 4 8's in the back and 1000W. Who knows
