Need help matching amp to sub

I am looking into getting the 12" Eclipse Ti. sub SW9122. i know that TRU681 has experience with these personally in his car. What i need help with is a good amp to power this thing but still at an affordable price (college student with little income here). i mean i like the Kenwood 9102D, and it puts out 850RMS at 2ohms but would it be enough to push a 750W RMS DVC sub and make it sound good? any suggestions on other amps are always welcome. thanks a lot.

i have read that it only needs about 1 cu. ft. but i was going to put it closer to 1.5 or 2, which is what some of the folks over on the12volt.com suggested.

Some of us frequent both sites yet on one site our post count is a little low by comparison. Give the sub about 1.5 cu. ft. sealed and it will wail. Any amp that provides a good 2 ohm load at 12 volts and this sub will love it. The motor of this sub can handle copious amounts of heat before it dies as the cone is thermally bonded to the voicecoil former as a much larger heatsink. The last vehicle we installed these subs into we gave them 2 cubes each and I refused to sit in his car. Stupid, stupid, stupid amount of bass response. Personally I'm not a big Driftwood fan at all. I am a buy it right the first time kind of person, I would take a look at some other options as well.

what amp(s) would you recommend. i know you are extremely knowledgeable in this area and i know your know your stuff. i would love to keep the amp under 500, maybe 600. it is just a matter of money right now. i know it would be hard to find a suitable amp for that price, but i'm hoping that there is something. Thanks.

Consider the Eclipse DA7122 amplifier then. It retails for $999 CDN, so it should be close to what you are hoping it to be in US funds if you strike up a deal with a good retailer.

i found that amp for around 600 online. and i liked it, seems like it should be plenty of power.
so you would think that amp, which i saw pushes like 1000Watts RMS at 2ohms, would be suitable? give me high SQ and great bass when i want?

And as a side note, i listen to a lot of hard core and heavy metal, very rarely rap, would this sub in the sealed enclosure give me nice, tight response with double bass rhythms and whatnot? thanks
