Question Need help from anyone with amped front speakers

I just installed my components in my doors and i just mounted the crossovers in the doors. Here is my problem. I am planning on amping all of the speakers in the coming weeks. I was unable to fish the the speaker wire through the existing wire loom into the door. How were you able to run your wires into your doors. I need help on this one before i can put my amps in.

With great difficulty is how this is done. You must take apart the factory wire molex that is inside of the rubber grommet. Next find some unused holes in the molex that are free on each side and drill them out to a size large enough to pass one of the leads of the speaker wire through. Drill two holes and run the two wires. It is a PITA.

snowy,

Why can't you use the factory wire that already goes into the doors?

Wiggles

I will have to run wires from the amp to the front speakers. I will not be able to use factory wires anymore.

are you keeping your factory headunit? if so you can still use the factory wiring. just requires buying the radio harness from metra, the 70-7903 and 71-7903. not that hard to do either. much easier than running new wires into the doors.

Sorry, I did not take pics of this part of the install. Take your time, remove the door panels and start to work the rubber boot away. The wiring goes into a molex that is attached to the vehicle at the "A" piller. Meaning, you need to remove the entire assembly from the "A" piller first, bend it around with what little wire play is left and drill out the unused holes (6 IIRC in a Bose system). You are going to need some pick tools and long slender common screwdrivers. Get ready to swear a lot.

Are you using Metra 70-7903 and 71-7903? I wonder if the connectors come with enough wires to keep steering wheel audio control. Thanks.

Snow, here's what I did. Hope it helps. Sorry I didn't have more pics.
Required tools, vaseline, coat hanger, cut to 6"-8"with a hook at one end, small needle nose pliers with long needle part?, several flathead screw drivers, Dremel tool with cutting disk, flashlight, misc tools.
1. Remove door panels.
2. Detach Molex conn. going into car frame as seen in pic 1 with a small flathead. There are 4 points, you will only be able to push in the 2 facing you. Top & bottom
3. You will need to work out the Molex conn. don't be scared, you will need to work it out enough until you see a blue colored plastic. Dremel out a area of the Molex to pass your wires through, there is already a hollow spot. I was able to get 2 sets of 16 awg wires through. If your looking at the molex from outside of the car (passenger side)directly at it. Dremel the 10-11 o'clock positions. The driver side is 2-3 o"clock pos.
4. Now, on the door, close to the bottom. There is another white conn. On part of the door is about a 3" wide black grommet? Looks like electrical tape. Pull this back alittle, on the door side, to show a white plastic passing from the rubber housing of door jam, with wires in it, to the door itself. You can use a small flathead to release the white plastic housing at the top and bottom. 4 points.
5. Now, your ready to run the wires. Door first. I used the Vaseline on the wires just to help lube things up, and coat hanger :D I fed my coat hanger up through the white plastic on the door, untill it came out at the spot of the door jam. I had to bend the coat hanger alittle too. Hooked on the wires and pulled them through. You may have to use needle nose pliers to help some.
6. I then fed the wires through the door jam, where I dremeled, shove alot in there. From the interior side use your coat hanger through some holes, to help fish out the wires, see pic 2. Use flashlight here.
7. Then repeat for driver side.
I had ran 2 wires because my X-overs are in the interior incase I need to tune them, and they are huge. You can run just 1 wire if your X-overs are in the door itself.
Well hope this helps some. The passenger side took me 2 hours, I wanted to be careful. The drivers side took me 1 hour.
The bandaides and cuts on my hands are from the stupid Dynamat. :D

damn you beat me to my walk through. i mounted my cross overs in the door cuase there was no way that i was fitting 2 sets of 12 guage monster cable through those tiny little holes, it was hard enough getting 1 set. I used a small guase wired fished through then gradually increased the guase until my wire slipped through.

right now i only have 50 watts rms but i will be swapping amps over the winter and running 100 watts rms. i actually has to use a lower quality speaker wire that had thinner insulation to make it through the holes.
