In need of Console Latch Button, where to buy?

My button broke that opens my center console. One of the little arms that links the button to the latch snapped off. I'm sure Mazda is proud of it and will charge an arm and a leg. Is there a good online source or anyone with a spare that wants to part with it?

You want the lock assembly (number 2). I had to replace mine recently and they got it to me QUICK.

I recall another thread on here with MANY people with this problem.... including myself. How hard is it to replace this locking assembly? Not that it even matters, I'll quit my job to fix this. LOL

It's not hard at all. There's a DIY thread that tells you how to take it apart so you can bend part of it to make the button sit level. You can search for that or you can just pull the screws on the bottom and carefully work it apart. There are 2 springs in it, so don't let those jump out into oblivion.

thanks for the link, I'll check that out

Here it is slightly cheaper.

Console Lid/Console for 2004 Mazda RX-8

I replaced the entire lid, took like 3.5 seconds. If I had known they were so cheap I would not have invested all of the time that I did in "repairing" the original latch.
