I bought my RX-8 two days ago; I think the navigation system is defective, but can someone please confirm this behavior is not by design?

• Doesn't always power-up, i.e. the screen is blank (no back-light, nothing).
• Screen will always flip up/down with the [open] button.
• Dvd drive is reading, or attempting to read the disk.
• Sometimes, it all works fine.

The Dvd seems fine, no scratches or warping.
I'm wondering:

• Is there some start-up procedure I don't know about?
• Is there a problem in the Nav system, or the Lcd, or somewhere else?
• What is the correct behavior when the Nav system is on, but without a disk, or having a problem with the disk, drive, Gps receiver, etc?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Just take it back to th e dealer to check it out...what warranties are for...should popup a logo as soon as it opens then you need to push the joystick in to actiuvate the navigation...well atleast thats how the 04 is.
