Moving 12V Front Power Source?

I want to relocate the plug in the ash tray, since my tray is gone, to the passenger side dash where the passenger air bag light used to be next to the glove box on the left side. Anybody do this yet?

Did you just cut and extend the wires? Or is there enough slack?

Where the **** is the passenger airbag light? I haven't sat in the passenger seat but 1 time when I was smashed out of my mind. I can't picture that location.

It never made it to the final production cars it seems, so it is plugged.

The wires had to be extended and some of the plastic that holds the plug in had to be trimmed. I also got one of those rubber caps to put on it instead of the lighter sticking out of it.

So you moved both the outer orange ring with it - nice. That is what I am doing right now also.

I moved the whole plug as well since my ashtray area is occupied by my MP3 player's display and wired remote. Had pics about it years ago, the thread is still out there.

I simply extended the wires and used the original socket with the orange ring just like the above photo shows. Had to enlarge the hole a little bit with a round file but it was a piece of cake to do.

In Progress...

Managed to move the source and connectors without cutting the wires, by removing the head unit and freeing more wire from the bundle.

Nice mod. I took mine out when I installed my DELL Pocket PC system. However I used the connectors for my hardwired radar detector. All hidden from view.
