Silver, you should get in on the 1.5 upgrade thread. There is a CAB-USB cable that is circulating amongst the members. Get in there and get your name on the list so you can get the new firmware. There will soon be two cables going around, which will make the wait much more bearable.

ok...so I've had my metra kit for a yr n 1/2 now without any update(didn't find out about it till recently), I didn't mind the display going on frizz once in awhile..but that was the only problem i had.

Jus now my control ***** stopped working...so I open it up and checked and secured the connections...works again...so i go yay! I put everything back together n pressed on the controls...stopped working again...I go..wtf?

I open it up again and resecured the connections on the box...turned the key inition to on and it started working again...this time I left it on while I put everything back together...or atleast the faceplate...it stopped working again when I took out the key and put it in on position...I kept doing this several times till I jus gave up and though I prolly need a new box...either that or my control **** assembly is fked(i hope not).

Any1 had or is having similar problems? I figure my nxt step now is to update the firmware n see where it takes me.

Bose + Metra Kit Volume Issue. I Need Help!!!!

I just hooked up my Alpine Double Din and planned on keeping the Bose Systm for now but the Volume is WAY too loud in the car. I mean it is Rockin hard with the volume at 4. Has anyone encountered this? If so what do I do about it?

I plan on getting rid of the Bose system all together but I dont have the cash for it right now.

I just dumped little over $5,000 in the car with performance upgrades and the new headunit + Metra kit. I just dont want to have to rewire the speaker system right now.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Makes you wonder when the Metra kit will come already with the latest firmware...

I want the kit and a PC in there to complete my setup. Anybody with that setup yet?

Ignoring the SHOUTING! , what it sounds like to me is that you're double-amp'ed. You need to connect the Pre-Outs from your Alpine Head Unit to the "speaker wire" connectors on the metra kit, as those will lead to the Bose Amplifier. Search around on the forum for methods of connecting those wires to pre-outs, some people like to cut an RCA cable and make the connections, personally, I prefer to just add RCA connectors to the speaker connections. If you search a bit, you'll find what I'm talking about...

Also, generally speaking, this forum is extremely helpful, but shouting like that is a very good way to get ignored (or flamed)

Sorry I just needed help. Trying to get attention, not shouting. I look at typing as typing not speaking.

Anyway I believe I have it figured out. They make speaker level convertors for just speaker wires. I just couldnt find anything on here after searching for over 2 hours.

All 3 of my RCA outputs are being used so that method isnt an option for me but a darn good idea to keep in mind for the future. Thanx for that

Metra kit... Audiopilot problem

Could someone help me?

I got my headunit goin. Still have to install the line level convertor to get my speaker levels right but I noticed something. It appears that the Bose Audiopilot is on. I know it is turn on as a default setting whenever power is off from the stock headunit but I thought it was controled by the stock HU not the amp.

I always hated Audiopilot and it was always the first thing that got changed before I even adjusted bass/treble.

If Audiopilot is turned on how do I disable it and still use the Bose amp? Someone please tell me I dont have to rewire the speakers and do away with the Bose setup all together.

RxJaye, I've been annoyed with the AudioPilot for a very long time as well and I'm in the same state as you, waiting to eventually swap out the Bose amp/speaker setup. Where does the AudioPilot Mic exist and connect? (I'm sure disconnecting it will make me much happier as well). Thanks.

well, just got my metra kit off ebay, ddnt think anything of it, did the install and sure enough i hav 3 LEDs on my ac control and i cant change anything execpt the fan/heat *****. so my ac is stuck on the floor. after trying to read through this post for a couple hours, i called metra, who said that by disconnecting the battery, reconnect 10mins later go on..off...on..off...turn car on would reset the chip and i could install and it should be fixed. however after doing it it still doesnt work, and the lettering of the display was what i set it at last time, so it ddnt get reset. i live in guam so its kinda hard to call the company every night. i dont know what version it is. how do i know if it needs to be soldered, or if its jst completly fu**ed.

Same exact problem here. Metra rep told me to try the same thing, it did not work. He also said that the board soldering may have cracked during installation. He suggested I hook up the AC/Heat/Fan using the old connection to see if that worked. I haven't been able to check that yet.

Has anyone resolved this problem?

ok...so i just had my metra kit installed "professionally"...
after testing it out a few hours i notice the fan and the heat controls both dont work.

first thought is that the fan and heater cords got switched. so i started to take it apart to investigate.
after taking off the center pillar and pulling out the ash tray, i notice that the kit is not even bolted down to the car. and i also see some double adhesive tape securing the kit faceplate in place.

i immediately stopped hat i was doing...
so right now, if someone where too break my window the whole unit will just slide out, kind of shady to me...it being professionally installed and the money i paid to have it done, this should be screwed in right and done right.

i am contemplating on even going back, and if i do, if i should say anything about the radio not even being bolted down...

any thoughts..

once you buy it, there are pretty good instructions that come with it. Shows you how to take apart your dash, what plugs into where, and how to wire it.

I did tho have to refer to the stock wiring diagram to find out where the stupid reverse wire was, for my gps...

but yeah, whats also nice is that its not all text, theres actual pictures! lol
much easier.

I have a 2004 Manual RX8. I'm installing the Metra Kit. Where can I find a good ground point behind the dash? I can find nothing but screws going into plastic.

Sorry if this question has been answered already.

I have a quick question about installing a rear view camera...

On the Metra kit instructions, it says that manual transmission cars don't send out a Reverse signal. So you don't have to connect that wire to your new stereo right?

I connected the Camera In wire for the camera and hooked the camera up to the power cable going to the back up lights, but nothing comes through on the stereo screen. Is my camera simply not working then? In the stereo's settings, the rear view camera is turned on.

Thanks for any help!

I used the one of the four bolts that holds down the inner shift boot for my gauges. Works like a charm just put another 6mm nut on top of the bolt to clamp the ground down.
