Hmm I'm not seeing the normal wire colors for wiring up to your speakers. Is there a copy of your double din manual online that you can download? Usually there is purple/purple-white and grey/grey-white

i know about that

but what about the Digital receiver [not pictured]

it needs to be powered, can i also tap it into the red and black wires too? or is that bad?

also what about the reverse camera?
what power source close to the trunk can i tap that into?

I think you should have someone help you or get it professionally installed. Sounds like you haven't done many installs before. Way to many questions. only question you should have that im sure you will have. Is why there is no sound but everything works. That question is answered through out the thread. I recomend reading the whole thread since it seems you have alot of time before your kit gets in anyway. And you will probably answer alot of your questions.

For the reverse camera you are going to need to run a video cable all the way up the center of the car to get to the AV in of your HU, so I would imagine that if all else fails you can run the power wire for the camera down the car as well. People who have put computers in their trunks have been doing that.

For the digital receiver you might want to check its manual. But I'd imagine plugging it into the same power source as you HU won't be a problem. You want it be powered when you turn the car on to ACC so that it comes on at the same as you HU, so I would think that connecting it to the same power wire would achieve that.

ok that answers my questions! because my footwel lights are connected to the ACC for obvious reasons that i dont want to drain the bat if lights are left on, on accident.

anyways, i guess i have no choice but to run wires to the in-dash then from the backup camera, i just thought i could find a closer power source i can tap into

they should know what they are doing. but you could always take them the instructions just incase but the pro's should know what they are doing and be able to do it just fine.

alright, took em 9 hours but they got the head unit in. But the AC defroster controls dont work...........Im fairly certain the box isnt fried as i saw the installer playing around with a voltometer trying to figure it out. Could it be that the wires are just unplugging themselves? im hoping its not fried but now i have no AC and that is not the right answer for georgia

god damn 9 hours? you may have to re-solder the a/c control module to get a/c to work. if you are getting all heat that may be what you have to do. look around in this thread there is link somewhere on re-soldering. its a very common issue one that perticularly happens when removing the a/c module to repleace the head unit. you dont need to buy a new module you just take apart your current one and with a magnifying glass you canse cracks in the solder on the control board. just re solder them and works like new. like i said there is a whole thread on it somewhere and even has pictures. try that and see if it works. if you cant do it your self find someone who can or buy a new one. but it will be a waste to buy a new one as re solder will fix it like new

Hey ZumN.. hows that video coming along? I've been waiting for you to do it so I can get started with a lot more confidence. I'd really appreciate it man!!!!! Maybe you could just PM us a private link or upload it to a website like Rapidshare or Megaupload or something so it's not posted all over YouTube?

Hmmm...what exactly doesn't work? If you get no display, no lighted HVAC controls and the only **** or button that works is the fan speed...your box is not working. Now...it might not be the box's fault...but if you remove it entirely you'll get those same symptoms.

I was wrestling with the exact same thing, although when I initially did the install it all worked fine. I had to remove to fix something with the stereo and hosed up a wiring harness and possibly fried the box. I got a new box but it does nothing. Either the new box is fried (they deny it) or something that gets power to the new box is fried...but its hard to prove one way or the other without knowledge of the box pinouts.

That said I ended up saying f*** it and tricked the servo controlling the hot/cold air routing into moving into the cold position....so I now have cold AC! I can't turn the heat on but I live in South Florida...who cares?! :D

dude... long story but i almost got my car impounded, have to pay $1000 ticket, by friday, so that takes some of my mod money away.... i installed a ac/dc converter box that has two outlets, so now i gotta do the custom fab in my trunk for the widescreen TV, that be done hopefully by next month (before SevenStock), its gonna be fairly easy, run power for TV from outlet , CHECK, run power for PS3 from outlet, CHECK, run A/V cables to double din, then video out to wide screen.........DONE- i want to run seperate AUDIO for music/ps3 but for right now they are both going to share the same audio output, after i recover from paying $1000 for the ticket....

Well finally got around to doing this. It took me almost all day, and after all the sweat and blood (my hands are cut up pretty good) I got my Alpine iDA-X303 installed, not a single bit of engine whine and VERY clean and clear sound. I must say it was a chore getting everything in there, but I did, and I had to take the Axxess box apart to get it in. I would like to thank all who contributed to this thread because this was a VERY helpful resource...all 40+ pages...

Here are the pics, sorry, it is a Blackberry phone and it is dark.

Hey ALL,
Quick question: with the Double DIN Kit is it possible to Have 2 Head units Installed? i.e. a Cd Unit and MD Unit? I have gone threw the 46 pages and I do want to purchase the Metra kit. I already have a Sony MD Unit and I do plan to buy a Sony CD receiver specifically the Sony Xplod MEX-BT3700. Can this set up be possible? I can do away with the MD unit But Since I do have a Music on MD it be nice to hear them in the RX8 every once in awhile and one more thing:
The steering wheel controls require a Pac adpater to work with an aftermarket HU. If this set up is possible, will one adapter do the job? or would I need to purchase 2 of them for both Headunits?

Hello All
Just finished my install of the Metra Kit with a JVC KDR600 with the XM radio kit. For the most part the install went very easy and smoothly. Kudos to all the members that have posted directions and pitfalls for pulling the stock radio out. It made it a very easy removal. I am about half way through this 46 page forum looking at other peoples install experiences so I apologize upfront if I mention something that was already mentioned. But a couple of things I noticed and not sure if it's by design or just something I messed up during installation
1) The chime for when my head lights are left on no longer works.
2) While my climate controls work completely they no longer illuminate when the lights are
on.
3) Clock seems to be slowing. Started out being 3 minutes behind, now its up to 45 minutes.
4) Slight whine when I am on XM.
5) Pain in the *** to get all those wires tucked away nicely(Granted i am not a patient person) I am sure if I took my time I could of done it properly.

But other than that I would highly recommend this kit. I mainly went with single DIN unit so I had the shelf to store my cell phone and to hold my Itouch. They fit perfect side by side in the shelf.

I will finish going through the forums and hopely someone has already come across my issues and has a resolution

Thanks

you shouldnt have any of those issues if done properly. the time would only be an issue if you are not updated with version 1.4 on the axcess box. i have been following this thread since it started and i dont think you will find anyone with those issues as i have never seen those issues come up. and yes it is a tight fit with all the wires i would double check connections

Thanks! Later today I am going to take a look at my fuses. Perhaps I blew one while doing the install. And this weekend going to take the time to pull the radio again and check all my connections. I really just wanted confirmation on the 1st 2 issues. That they should work the same as before the install of the kit. Just odd that everything is working but those 2 things and the light on indicator for hte head lights do not work either.

Halfway figured out my issue. For some reason fuse #30 ILLUMI is blowing. I have a feeling I have my orange ILLUM/Dimmers crossed. Will have to pull the radio out this weekend to correct.
