lowering cloth seats

Hi guys. Search is terrible on mobile so I apologize if this has been covered, but I need just a little bit of headspace for my helmet to clear. Buying new seats although nice would be expensive. Can I just take the runners out and bolt the seat in a fixed position? I'm the only driver so it never changes anyway. If possible maybe a link or explanation to a DIY would be much appreciated.

Without helmet I fit fine, with helmet I look at everything diagonally lol. Last.season in autocross I had to slide my seat up and angle the back down which made for an awkward driving position undoubtedly costing me time lol.

Checking out link now. Thanks
