Leather seat restoration
Has anyone restored their leather seat so that it returns to its original look, i.e. non-glossy, dull look? I really don't like it becomes glossy after some period of use. I wonder if the detailing shops can do it & how much it costs.
i condition my seats with meguiars leather conditioner every few months and my seats are always kind of shiny. doesn't that just mean that they have plenty of moisture and are not going to dry about and or crack?
As much as I like Zaino products (this one included), I just don't think it does much for our leather seats. It seems to to just coat the surface with a semi-glossy finish. Then again, it could be doing something, I don't know. Maybe it's because the leather isn't the highest quality to begin with - it just doesn't seem to absorb into the seats, and probably any other leather conditioner would have the same result. It definitely makes your car smell like leather though!

Who would let a Ferrari get that dirty in the first place???!!

I apply it to the cloth versus on the leather, then rub it in good. I really don't see how you could apply any less than I do. To cut down on shine, I suppose you could take a clean cloth to all the leather after you're done.
Regardless, I don't think any leather care product is going to do what he's asking for. It's not a matter of a product leaving a matte or shiny finish. It's that the texture of the leather has been buffed smooth as heck by many a butt movements.
You might try some leather care product and a nylon scrub brush. If that doesn't do anything, step up on the stiffness. Beyond that, I'd just learn to live with it before you ruin the leather altogether.

Thanks guys for your input. Seems like I'm not the only one who wants to have my seat back to new. To me I think most leather products probably won't do a lot of help. But I rather curious if the professional shops can do it. Like some of you've said, the surface has basically been buffed or worn out & it needs to be re-surfaced, re-coating or something.
Perhapds we could make some phone calls & shop around.

black leather shouldnt be a problem, 40th cosmo red seats could take some shopping around if i needed to get it reupholstered. This is also an option.
personally if i didnt have the 40th i would do a 2 tone black and red if i was getting my seats reupholstered.
