Does anyone know if you can change the display when you turn on your car that says RX8 to somthing else. a buddy of mine said he saw one that said "welcome "drivers name." has any one done this yet.

No, you can't change the text via OEM.

HOWEVER, If you remove the stock stereo, and install an aftermarket head unit, AND if you choose to use a Metra single or double DIN facia kit, then the logic box (to allow HVAC use) in the Metra kit will let you change the display to whatever you want.
