The 500/1 amp will work great with two jl 10's. (10w6v2's)
It was actually too much for me and I sold 1 sub and the box. I went with the 4080 custom box and it sounds perfect.

the 250/1 will be perfect for 2 w0's, or the 500/1 will be perfect for 2 w3's. if you are planning on getting the w3's, then get the 500/1, and when you put it in make sure you gain it down. have you gotten a price on the amp yet. if not, and if you are willing to take a ride to delaware, i would be able to get you a good price on the jl amp and subs (as long as i have em in stock, as we just dropped the line and stock is limited) and you wouldnt have to pay sales tax either. i work for an audio shop, and i will be coming back to our delaware location starting this coming friday.

hey im curious on your imput... i will be running 2 10w6v2's with 2 500/1 amps all JL audio...

Now i know JL underates their amps... and my friend was telling me if i run this setup i mostlikely would blow my subs... saying in reality the 500/1 put out about 1000-2000 watts... is this true? i didnt thiink they underated their amps by 3X as much as they listed... i doubt that but can you varify? i have all the equpiment except 1 10w6v2 as i will be purchasing after completing my second sub box.... thanks

not sure if 2- 500/1 are needed, kicker also rates there amps alot lower
mainly I heard for competetion reason's.
so sell me a 500/1

what type of sub box sealed or ported you running
I just finished building my box and working on the amp rack.

as long as the system is tuned properly, you dont have to worry about blowing the subs from having a higer rated amp. the majority of blown subs come from distortion, IE: not having enough power and turning the gain, bass, or volume up too far and introducing too much distortion.

no, the jl 500/1 doesnt put out 1000 to 2000 watts. in true power, they may make about 600 watts each. the 10w6v2 is rated at 400 watts, so as long as the amps are gained correctly, you will have no problems. it is more common to blow subs from having an amp that doesnt make enough power.

kel, i checked at the shop today, and we no longer have the 500/1. i should still have the 10w3v2's though. you may want to look at a different brand. one of the reasons we discontinued carrying the jl line is because they drastically changed their warranty. the warranty is now 3 months if you just buy the equipment, and 1 year if you purchase the equimpent and have the authorized dealer where you purchased it at install it as well.

that really sucks
I guess I may have to stick with kicker amps and stay with my W0 for now
do you have a 250/1 in store then or are you guys getting out of the complete jl line ?

getting out of the line completely. we have carried the line for more than 8 years, and because of the recent warranty policy changes, and other factors, we decided to stop carrying the line. we carry kicker, alpine, kenwood, diamond, focal, eclipse as our major brands. dont have any 250/1's either. but we do have 2 1000/1's. i know that is major overkill for what you are looking for. you should check out the diamond subs, their d3 series, (which is equilavent to jl w0's price wise) are much better engineered and will outperform the w0's as well. d6's are pretty beastly, which fall in around w6v2, and d9's are downright beastly.

ive decided to change the carpet now I wanted that JL box look
I dont know what I was thinking , I almost did it black but will make the box and panels all in charcoal now.
the box is perfect just how I wanted it
the dimension are nutz 14in (H)31(W)forgot length.but anyway LiLbenny any pixs of your custom work ? and try a bolt and nut to secure the bolt since a fastner wont really work and screws wont either.

I have a JL 500/1 slash mono amp, 2 4080's, and 2 JL 10" subs. (10W3v2 - D4)
I asked JL directly and they said the 500/1 is exactly what I want for these 2 subs as they will be getting 250W each.

So, the 500/1 should be perfect if you get the 10W3's..
The 250/1 would be a little low per JL (when I asked the same question) for the 10W3's

Hope this helps.

i cant use a bolt and nut.. because when i tighten it i will only have access to one side. EX if i was tightening the bolt it would keep twisting because nothings holding the nut...

here are some pics of my boxes.. they got messed up and i had to repaint them but this is what they look like..

paint in the pictures peeled thats why they are still in the works...

by the way this project by far was the biggest pain in the ***.... sanding and painting woww.

^^try using velcro on the back of the boxes. you would be surprised at the holding power of good velcro. i am assuming that the back of the box is flush with part of the trunk

im in NJ... South brunswick.. now really sure where montiville is... im central...

and yes the back is flush.. how much velcro do you think id need? haha

8 + speeding through turns + unsecure sub box = tosssed. not good

plus the JL subs im putting in are a bit pricey dont wanna f them up as i already drove around with a box and sub in place went through a turn BOOM flew out of the corner.. i was gonna cry.
