I've read several threads about IPOD integration but I'm not really clear on which route to go. I have an IPOD class and an 04 RX-8. What are my options to integrate IPOD play through the car stereo system and what kind of costs am I looking at for each? Are there any major down sides to a particular option I should be aware of before going with it? Thanks!

If this question has already been answered quite frequently, can someone forward me another thread. Because although the search function is quite useful, it is also quite general in results.

There are a bunch of threads in the electronics category on iPod integration. Check out the threads on the Axxess and AudioLink adapters.

Being that you have an 04, be sure to check your headunit's firmware before buying any of these adapters. Many of them will only work on "newer" firmwares.

That being said, I used the Audiolink and was pretty happy with it.

I've got a 04 and I love my AudioLink. I get to use the track changing controls and it charges my ipod too.

How can I check the firmware version on the head unit?

Check there website. Audiolink gives a breif description on how to check the firmwire.
