IPod Hookup W/FACTORY LCD DISPLAY FUNCTIONALITY!!! & XM DIRECT
Is this dead? With all the talk about the factory solution, I'm tempted to just get that. It only goes halfway in terms of LCD display however. Apparently it will display playlist and track number, but not song title. It seems to me once you start using the display you may as well use it correctly, but what do I know? :D
So, I am resisting the urge to get the Mazda solution, but I'm not sure how long I can resist it...

Not dead yet but no updates recently.
I can actually get the factory IPOD solution for you and could have a couple months ago but as soon as I learned no LCD display functionality I canned it.
I will check in today with the manufacturer.

Yes it would work with an 04 and no Sat button. I'm calling tomorrow to get the info. I emailed but I'll call for more detailed info. See if there are any other goodies I can find for you guys in addition.

You're right truemagellan,
Here's the email reply I got from Crutchfield

Hello,
Thanks for shopping the Crutchfield web site.
In answer to your question about adding an XM solution to your 2004 Mazda RX-8, the bad news is that you happen to have one of those vehicles where nothing integrates well. We unfortunately have no solution for adding XM radio directly to your Mazda. I wish I had better news there.
The only solution I can offer up would be to use a "plug and play" XM tuner with an FM modulator. You will find them here:
http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rsemc21...p.asp?g=250150
For even more information, be sure to click on the "Crutchfield Hands-on Research", "Features", "Photos + Videos", "Accessories", and "Reviews" tabs on the individual product pages.
----------------------------------------------------------------
So its all you now, hopefully you can source the connector soon and we can all enjoy some inegrated XM soon!

True can you tell us who is making the piece? It isn't overload and those guys? I know they had trouble sourcing the connector when they first started making the piece. i also know they did a lot of work on the adv version to make text output a possibility. So right now the project is stalled on the connector?
It'll probably be significantly cheaper than the factory Sirius

There is another IPOD offering we are thinking about carrying as well. It is a new RF remote control. Cool thing is you can use this on the go and even bring it into other vehicles. Couple it with the PIE adapter and Mbus to 3.5mm headphone cable we sell and you have another great option.
