Interior & Underglow Neons

Hi Everyone, I was hoping to get some opinions/thoughts on these two ideas I have.

First, the accessories list for the RX8 has a "night lights" option for the driver and passenger. I was planning on having neon or LED lights installed in the cabin, but should I just opt for the factory lights? Or, should I opt for the factory lights so that the wiring will be in place, and just replace the blubs?

Second, I was thinking of a neon underglow kit... what I want to do is not so much have just the constant on (or off with a switch), but have those lights flash on/off as I used the keyless entry. Does anyone know if this is even feaseable? Ideas how I could hook that up?

Thanks,
Alex

If he can pay for it, then he can rice it.... There will be a lot more of this to come, might as well get used to it.

(Disclaimer: not my preference)

Cool

Riced out? I'm not trying to give the interior cabin a radioactive glow, just a little light at the feet. I think cars could use lights at the feet at night. As for the underglow, I thought it'd be nifty to have flashing along with the key-less entry lights.

As for the flashing exterior lights I think that it would be possible. I'm not certain if the headlights/taillights flash with the alarm/keyless entry, but if it does all you should have to do is track down the wiring for this and reroute it. Granted I'm not electrician or anything but those are just my $.02 on that one.

Egad...

Well, anyway. You can run a relay off of the lead that flashes the headlights/parking lights, and connect that to the neon lights. Pretty straightforward, actually. Delay circuits could be added to that relay for a desired effect.

Don't you have anything more worthwile to say other than crapping on people that choose to mod their cars to their own personal taste? Sure their taste doesn't match yours or mine for that matter, I don't like underbody neons, but if you don't have something intelligent or constructive to say, it's better not said.

Your right, a forum is open for critisism, constructive critisism. It should not be open for insults and degredation, thats just rude. You need to remember to respect other peoples decisions.

i have puchased undrglow kit (4 bulbs, blue), though have not put them on yet. it looks like they will fit though and will not be able to be seen at all. just be able to see glow when turned on. (so that everybody that hates ricers wont even know i have them) not sure when we will install them just waiting for my mechanic to have some free time to install them.

I was checking out Virginia safety inspection standards and this was the number one FAQ. I'm not considering NEON lights, but seemed strange that they are so strick about them. Any other states this way? You might want to check if you are considering it.
Are neon lights legal for use on vehicles in Virginia?

Neon lights are illegal anywhere on or in a motor vehicle in Virginia, unless they are covered and unlit while the vehicle is being operated on a public highway.

NOTE: If the neon lights are mounted under the vehicle, the vehicle is not considered a proper cover. A cover would have to be made specifically for the purpose of covering these lights.
