Interior neons with seperate battery?

I just bought a couple of neon tubes to go under the dash. And I was wondering if it would be a good idea to connect the to a seprate battery source? ie.a 9 volt battery. rather then doing all the work of running it through the panels and splicing wires and all that.
I would imagine it would be a lot easier to wire.
but.. what do you think?

sounds like a lot more hassle to change batteries all the time then to wire them up to a 12V switched source once. Would your neon's even run off a 9V?

ya I tried it off a 9 volt and it works good.
I figured I wouldnt have the neons on that often. so it might just be easier
maybe I should just try and hook it up to a 9 volt and see how long it lasts just as a test.

Regardless if it works or not, it's really not difficult to just splice into a +12V ignition source. If you can't handle that, then you can't handle installing the neons at all. lol

Funny but true.
