Infinity Basslink Mounting Options

I've seen a few people on here mention that they had an Infinity Basslink mounted in their trunk.

My question is, how exactly does this unit mount? Is it necessary to screw into the floor of the trunk? How hard is it to take it in and out, or is it more or less permanent once it's in there?

I noticed in the literature that there's an option to mount it horizontally? Has anyone here done that?

I mounted mine, vertically, directly behind the driver's side, rear passenger seat on the upper deck. It was screwed directly to the upper deck, through the carpet.

Later, I installed a rear strut bar and had to remove one of the mounting "legs" in order to gain some clearance with the deck that holds the 6x9 speakers.

After installation, I've had no trouble with it moving around or vibrating loose, but it's still good idea to check it every once in a while. Hope this helps.

Actually, "swoope", I did do that, but I never saw that thread. I don't know why you assumed I never searched, but believe me, I'd much rather find it on my own that interact with people that are so quick to make false accusations and remind me of forum rules.

Thanks for the link anyway.

I'm getting the feeling that the Basslink is not quickly removeable without undoing fasteners?

I'm also interested in a Basslink install that allows me to remove it fairly easily. So I'm hoping I can install a Basslink in such a way that I can remove it when I know I'll need the space.

I found this thread where someone claims they held it in place with velcro:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...asslink+velcro

Maybe that will help?

Don't know much about car stereo hardware etc. but I'm assuming you could remove the basslink and the rest of the system would still function.

Removal only takes a couple of minutes. I use a rechargeable drill to remove the screws and disconnecting the actual unit doesn't take that long. Your back will be sore longer from all the weird twisting you'll have to do, than it will take to get the Basslink our of your trunk.

The velcro idea crossed my mind, but it wasn't apparent to me how the side that attaches to the carpet would work. I figure you would glue one side of the velcro to the bottom of the bracket, but I wonder about gluing to a carpet.

I put one of the Mazda RX8 trunk trays in my trunk (about $50). When I mounted my basslink, I just velcroed the legs to the trunk tray. I made sure to use industrial strength velcro. That basslink wants to move either through its own vibration or just driving around. I have had no problems with this setup. I can remove my basslink in a minute, although that velcro is incredibly strong.

My baselink came with brackets that screw into the floor of the trunk (or wherever you mount it). After that, the baselink itself mounts to the two brackets with two 8-inch or so bolts. Takes like two minutes in all to unscrew the bolts and disconnect the wires for removal.
