FYI... i dont know anything about stuff like this.
This is hardly hard hitting. I am same as you, really. I don't listen to any songs with extreme bass. I just prefer this setup because I like the look of it and I get to keep what little trunk space we have in our car. Best solution to my needs to be honest.

I had a local installer do this for me because I don't know enough to tackle something like this. If you are considering what I did, you have to accept the fact that you lose the feature of the center pass-through. The back piece of the pass-through is a small bin that is molded to the back and you have to cut this whole thing off. Using MDF, you have to fabricate a small box to enclose the woofers and secure it to the back of the panel. JL is the only brand, at the time I had this done, that manufactures woofers small enough to fit between the two rear seats.

This thread inspired me to do the same thing

I haven't tried it, I have no need to. It can be done I guess, but I am just worried I might make it loose, resulting in vibrations when the music is bumping.

I was playing around with panoramic settings on my camera today and made this. The wires for the sub and left rear channels will be hidden soon via a hole in the carpet. I'm considering hiding the RCA's also, in the same manner.

Getting the most out of your systems, especially subs, requires that you set your crossovers correctly. My sub only handles signals that are around 75Hz and lower. The door and rear deck speakers go from around 70Hz and up. Setting your crossovers allow your speakers to hit harder without distorting.

PS: I have designed this system with taking it to the track in mind. As you can see, the sub is on the passengers side, and the amp is located in the middle. The sub and sub box balance out my fat *** sitting in the drivers seat, keeping the perfect 50:50 weight distribution

Man these are all great sets. I myself will betray all of you though lol. I am going with a fosgate set lol. 1 12 inch shallow mount P-3 ( maybe 2 ) and a 500-1 DB amp for the sub on a free floating rack. Trim the trunk in black vinal to match the leather interior and run small red LED tubes for accent. eventually I will replace the factory BOSE with Focals, and a new Din dvd set. for now the deep bass response is a requirement lol. I will post pics after the 1st when it is completed. Once again I love these sets you all have. =D

Heh yeah I was gonna get a grill, but the shop was sold out of the one for my sub naturally. Which is funny because it's the new 08 model, and the amp rack is something I'm gonna do when I have time, right now I am swamped with work and trying to figure out living situations, so that'll have to wait. But did you use 1/2" mdf for the rack? It looks nice

Here is my set up:
Bazooka BTA10100, 10" self Amplified Tube Sub.

Pros:
Good value ~$160.00
Easy and clean install (the DYI is posted here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=bazooka
Extremely easy to remove for extra trunk space and for track/autox days.
Perfectly compliments the stock Bose sound system.
Lightweight.
I'm married, 30, and listen to R&B, Rock, and Adult Contemporary and it's more than enough for me with the gain at half.
I would feel comfortable recommending this product to a guy in my situation.

Cons:
Not suitable for big sound systems or once stock speakers have been upgraded and powered.
FQ response is not low enough for bass heads.
Bass is not felt outside of the car and you will not be a spectacle at red lights.
It's ol'skool tech.
Bass is not as "tight" and as musical as in a sealed system with lots of power.

Here are the pics:

yep, it is 1/2" MDF. i might be trying to sell it when the Metra kit comes out and i decide to add component speakers with another amp.

Rockford Fosgate Setup

Greetz.

Here is my setup. It includes:

2 x Rockford Fosgate P3SD410 10" DVC Shallow Mount Subwoofer
1 x Rockford Fosgate T400-4 Amplifier
1 x Rockford Fosgate T400-2 Amplifier
1 x Rockford Fosgate P1692S 6 x 9 Twin-Drive Full Range Speaker Set
1 x Rockford Fosgate P163C 6.5 3-Way Full-Range Speaker Set
1 x Rockford Fosgate 1FD Capacitor
1 x Rockford Fosgate PEQ Remote Control

I wouldn't say it's really worth it ($3500), but if you want good sound and you have no space, these shallow mount subs will def do the trick.

I replaced 2 x 12" DVC MTX Thunder 8500 Series for these for the enclosure size & I don't regret it

The sub I used is tis one JL AUDIO 6W3v3-4 (6W3V34)
6" 4-Ohm 125W W3 Series SUBWOOFER
http://www.millionbuy.com/jla6w3v34.html

I did not want a lot of bass so I went for the 6.5" and this is the size that fits the storage box perfectly. If you want more pics and ideas about this build. check out the following thread

I did stage 1 on my install this past weekend. . . more like stage .5, but I put my bass control **** in the center counsel. The DSC panel is out of my reach from normal driving position because of my longer legs... plus I wanted the bass control more centralized. Its clean, but needs something. . . any ideas of what?

I also routed my amp power cable under the air duct under the hood and tried to keep it out of the way.
You can see the fatmat under the rear seat also.

I'll post the finish product if it ever gets done

Hardhitter: you can always buy terminal cups to install on your boxes so when you go to the strip or race you can take the subs/amps out... thats one thing i had in mine when i did mine..

here are some pics i took before i had to strip my paint and repaint my boxes...

I am doing this setup but with (2) 8w7's and (2) 250/1 a CAP.
I cant wait. Boston Seperated in the fronts and some upgrades on the rear deck.

I moved up to the Kicker 500.1 and a 12L7 in a 1.25 cu. ft sealed box. I'm thinking of putting it in a 2.25 cu ft ported box. What do you think?
