How would this sound?

There's a local guy selling two 12" JL W3V3 and JL 250 in a box for around 500. I was thinking about selling my MTX thunderlink and putting this in. Would this be too overkill? It seems like it's a small amount of power for the handling capabilities of the speakers. Is this too much?

Also, would it fit in the back part of the trunk?

Thanks audiophiles.

you can't ask us if it will fit without giving us dimensions.. but my guess is that any standard 2 12"s box isn't going to fit.. i had enough trouble finding a 2 10"s box that would fit without having to special build.

you could get the subs and then get a zenclosures box from ebay (do a ebay search for "RX8 box") and that would fit perfect with 2 12s

but that amp is barely enough power for one of those subs (they are rated at 300 watts RMS each) and it sounds like you don't even want the kind of sound that 2 12's could do.

I suggest you get one good 10 - (about 500 watts RMS) with a good amp and you will have more than you will EVER need and it won't take up your WHOLE trunk

My personal recomendation is to get a single Alpine type R 10" (100 bucks on ebay) with any amp that has 500 watts RMS in a qlogic single 10 box: and it will cost less, sound better, and take up MUCH less room than those 12"s

Yeah that sounds good. This was just a spur of the moment kind of deal thing.

I was just wondering about 12s because I play bass, and I love how round my 12 inch speakers sound compared to my 10s. The 10s are a lot punchier... but I'm sure bass speakers are a lot different from subs, since bass amps have to be full range.

I've heard enough good things about the type R to just go with them... now I just gotta find everything.

Thanks

Come down here and we'll hook you up. Those 12s don't need a ton of air. I got 1.3cuft behind each one of Shinka's 12s and his enclosure doesn't overshadow the trunk depression at all.
