How to remove the metra kit (DIN)???
So one of my friends put in the double DIN metra kit for me the other day. I was going to hook up my own wiring for the subs, but I don't know to remove it. I'm about to unclip the bottom but can't get the top to come out and I'm afraid of breaking it. Anyone willing to share their knowledge?

Once any aftermarket headunit is installed, you usually don't have to disassemble everything again to get in there. However each manufacturer uses a slightly different method of securing their headunits in place. In general, the double din cage is mounted in the dash cavity and then the headunit secures to it in various ways. (most single din units have sliding clips on each side for example)
If you installed a Pioneer, last I knew, they use four super tiny phillips screws that screw into the cage. You need to remove the trim ring around the headunit to see them (it just snaps off).
Here's a pic:
He's using a pick tool to bend those locking tabs into the dash cavity. Then you'll note the two screw locations at the top and bottom of the cage.

I was afraid to unclip the metra kit because I didn't want to break it. I had a Kenwood screen and it is held in by two screws near the top and that's it. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
