Carpc
Hey guys I don't know crap about makin a pc let alone a car pc.
Can any of you make one to sell or know a place that sell them premade.
I just want it for dash commamd since.
Only thing I need is it to be able to run dash command, wifi to get data from the wifi obd2 and transfer skins from my house. RCA video for my nav switcher box . USB for keyboard mouse. If it can be made to auto load to the gauge set when it turn guess I can use my phone as a wifi mouse keyboard.
What would help me is...
Any one able to make me one to buy.
A complet list of what I would need .. I have a buddy who can build pcs but new nothing about car pcs.
Or a web site with pre made all in one setups I found one but can't find it.

I know it sounds dumb but I've tried to make a pc befor and kept breaking stuff lol.
I was just trying to see if there was a simple premade one since I'm just going to run gauge software.

there is just no way at all it's worthwhile to put in a carPC for such a limited purpose unless money is no object to you at all.
but if you really have your heart set on it, then your friend could help you easily. you only need a different power supply

In addition to EVERYTHING an aftermarket headunit can do....
OBDII Scantool, Internet with Wifi, File sharing with your PC while in the garage, fingerprint immobilizer, onscreen TPMS....
As for price, if you're building it youself, it's really not as much as you might think.

and i have a carPC, built from scratch. i know what it costs. weren't you the guy saying aftermarket head units do most of what carPCs do anyway and it's pretty much not worth it..?

Apparently I didn't understand.
Being that the OP stated quite a few reasons why one might want a CarPC, I took your statement as derogatory towards CarPCs. Seems pretty reasonable. If he had said he wants a CarPC just to surf the internet, then yes, I would agree.
As for my opinion on CarPCs, the functionality of them is pretty cool. I would never install one personally because of stability and speed. I don't like tinkering with my audio/nav system much anymore. So I just want it to work every single time I'm in the car. I also don't want to wait for bootup/awaken before I can listen to music or input a command. Although, now that SSD are coming way down in price, this might be less of a concern.

well, the OP initially stated he wanted it for dash command solely, which i thought would be a waste as it's then essentially an electronic gauge pod (ie 'such a limited purpose'). obviously i'm actually pro carPC
the OP has since amended his intended uses, in which case i say go for it, but he should definitely take note of your cons against it -- i 100% agree. i'd also recommend warwickben jump in the pool and do everything at once... if you stretch out the hassles, it will start to feel like more trouble than it's worth.
for me personally, now that it's up and running it's very solid but any change is time intensive and troubleshooting can definitely make one want to throw the $#^%& onto the street.
